No love for J.Skinner tonight? He lead our team tonight with a 83.3 CF% and a 94.81 xGF%.

Really liked him with Philp and Kapanen. I think that's your 4th line going forward.
He covered the point once for an Oiler d-man who pinched, he worked hard and tried to backcheck. He managed if he was close, but there was a shift in the second where he realized he had no hope of skating fast enough to catch a guy in front of him. Legs just quit working. They probably went into shock at the newness of it all.

You can see him progressing. The Oilers have very good coaches.

I'm not going to deny the stats because he was on the right side of it for the most part. But watching him play is painful, not a good skater and kills so many plays. He was unlucky not to get one tonight. I don't predict great things for him here and if there is any suitors I'd shed that contract for any other need.
It's pretty odd to say that Skinner is not a good skater. It has always been his forte.

Call me crazy, I see Nashville continuing to roll and working their way into a playoff spot. 5 straight wins now. If I’m right, then Calgary and Vancouver will probably both miss the playoffs. I won’t be shedding any tears.
Nashville is a better team than their record. But making the playoffs will be an immensely difficult task. They pretty much have to play .700 hockey down the stretch.

It takes a special kind of fanbase to shush the crowd when you're losing by 3.

‘Work harder’ is not a system.

It’s funny how quickly the fanbase has turned on him. Last year he was a saviour who could do no wrong, this year they think he’s lost the room lol. Thats the problem with Tocchetts type of coaching, it works great when everyone is on the same page but if you can’t get the team together it can turn the room toxic really quick just like it has for the Canucks.

Drai is the mvp and the idiot hockey media will have him 4th or 5th in voting
But would he be nearly as good without McDavid cheering him on from the PB.

Corey Perry is a beauty! I had my doubts about how much he had left to give this year but I think he means a lot to this team right now. A wily vet if there ever was one.

It's also hard to maintain. It demands that everyone gives it their all game in an game out. That wears on players even if they are willing. And as you say once luck turns a little it tends to unravel quickly.

Leon F’n Draisaitl

My word - the best I have ever seen him skate, it’s like he is finally healthy and over the baggage of injuries in the playoffs the last few years

Also, saw some stats on how impressive he has been when McDavid is not in the lineup - looks even crazier on a season by season basis

2018-2019: 4 games 6 pts
2019-2020: 7 games 12 pts
2021-2022: 1 game 1 pt
2023-2024: 6 games 16 pts
2024-2025: 5 games 10 pts

Best in the world
Please check the numbers again, I don't think last year's numbers are correct :)

Alright, I know its been beat to death and no need to discuss any further... but this idea that Vancouver has that, 'McDavid interfered first!' is INSANE!

There are other terrible fanbases but they are the only one that is straight up delusional. As in, actually makes up fairy tales to believe in.

From, 'Messier demanded the captaincy' to, 'Moore is faking how bad his injury is' to, 'Marchand punched Sedin in the face ten times and never got penalized' to now, 'McDavid interfered with Garland too'... its really a bizarre phenomenon that should be studied by sociologists.

Primary assist, last to enter the offensive zone, what a player.

The second best forward of his era and the gap between him and MacKinnon/Kucherov is wider than than the gap between him and 97.

There are zero, and I do mean zero, fanbases in the league who deserve this implosion more than Vancouver fans.

Agreed.

If we were in some version of hell in which Vancouver was playing Calgary for the Stanley Cup, my first choice would be an asteroid strike. My second choice would be the Flames.

He saw hughes join the scrum and immediately stopped engaging with the player he was and redirected to Hughes.

Smart player.

I saw that too. As soon as he saw Hughes was isolated, he redirected and pounced.

Shit like that is why I f***ing hated this guy.

Shit like that is why I love him now that he's ours.

I know the media who don’t have Leon even ranked in the top five for Hart voting won’t have even watched our game tonight, or any of the games we have played without Connor, which is a shame, as then the silly narrative that he is nothing without Connor would finally end.
Wait, how is that even possible? He's better this year than he was in his Hart winning season. League leader in goals (by 7 goals!!!!), second in points only one point behind MacKinnon, 2nd in +/-, league leader in GWGs and, tbh, one of the better defensive forwards in the league this season although I don't have the stats offhand to prove this.
A lot of this playing with guys who while visually playing well with good metrics and being good compliments to him have hardly scored.

I honestly don't see an argument for anybody being a better Hart candidate, nevermind 5. That has to be wrong.
