No doubt the original is Habs inspired anyway, but that concept looks sexy. And I'm amongst those whol like Sibir's current jersey.
Okay I have a question. You guys know how there are logos in the NHL? They are nice Logos. But in the KHL they are just different, for the most part. The only one similar is Traktor. Perhaps Medvescak now, and the one in Finland soon. But other than that no. Can anyone explain why/how come?
This sounds too edgy to respond in a serious way. I think you should lower down the level of trolling and be more particular.
But if you do want me to get more specific, then I have to disagree with you on the Traktor logo. It doesn't look like the majority of the NHL logos and would have no place there. It's not very nice and, to be honest, there are more KHL logos that resemble it.
Dynamo, Spartak and Slovan have world class logos better than some NHL ones, Traktor should have brutal tractor instead of some random bear IMO. Atlant, MMg, Admiral have new logos this season, so they are working on improving the general situation. Ava, Riga, Lev, Avto, Donbass, Loko are not bad at all, I don't expect any changes. Ak Bars and Sibir don't use their logos on jerseys, fine with them. Yes, CSKA and SKA are too minimalistic at some point, they want to make them more "historic". Vityaz and Minsk are mas o menos, others indeed are bad. Sooner or later we'll see the improvement on these other clubs as well (or see them in the VHL). That's my point of view you can disagree with. I hope sane teams won't choose fancy animals again.

Because that's probably the best logo they've had. It has both historical relevance (Traktor, the Makarov-Starikov roster, won the first medals with it) and a recognizable, yet subtile tractor reference. I also wouldn't be surprised to know if it was created by the ChTZ designers, the aesthetic just screams it.
The thing about Traktor as a franchise is that there are not too many Russian hockey clubs with such a long and established history (no, really, lower level amateur past of the teams like Ak Bars and Metallurg isn't the same thing, it was more like pre-history or local hockey history). When you look at the North American major sports franchises that are just as old, you may notice that they usually avoid to be too literal or flashy with their logos. Because that old school design vibe representing their background is what their fans expect them to market. And it should be the same for Chelyabinsk, all the brutal tractors and angry bears concepts will always lack the class that the franchise deserves.
Interesting. Slovans is very similar to the old penguins logo, Dynamo is almost exact same as Detroits retro jersey (winter classic logo). Are you referring to spartak's patch logo of the soldier, because that one is awesome, I wish they would switch that one to their main logo.
It's quite easy actually. European hockey has much in common with the older European soccer traditions and thus the traditional logos of the older hockey teams are kept simple and the team name was also a simple one.
Only in the last 25 years or so many teams changed their logos and nicknames to adjust to North American hockey culture.
Few examples from Germany:
Kölner EC -> Kölner Haie
Krefelder EV -> Krefeld Pinguine
Mannheimer ERC -> Adler Mannheim
Dynamo Berlin -> Eisbären Berlin
EHC Wolfsburg -> Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg
etc
In Sweden for example fans dont like these nicknames and thats why you have more teams with names like Lulea HF, Färjestad BK, Djurgardens IF, AIK Hockey, Leksands IF and teams like Malmö Redhawks are a rare thing.
PS: KHL teams use North American nicknames and logos for their MHL/MHL B junior teams (Omsk Hawks, Siberian Snipers Novosibirsk, White Bears Chelyabinsk, Yugra Mammoths Khanty-Mansiysk, Silver Lions St. Petersburg, Amur Tigers Khabarovsk) but I don't see how fans would like it if suddenly the KHL team changed names to Americanize...

It's irrelevant to me if the logo looks like some already existent one or not, an eagle suites it better than a penguin. Dinamo Sport Society has D logo since its foundation in twenties, so it's more likely that Detroit copied it. Both Spartak logos are quite nice, their MHL team uses the solder logo.
But the point is that many KHL teams didn't have stable traditional logo in the past, just check http://www.sports.ru/tribuna/blogs/hockey_logos/
Im not disagreeing, I think those logos are great. Detroit's vintage comes from Detroit tigers logo which was introduced before 1900s btw. Slovan has the most unique logo in the league IMO.
Soviet hockey teams started to adapt the North American traditions since the 60s. At first it was chest wide lettering, later it was all about oversized logos (for instance FC Dynamo would look ridiculous if they had that big hockey "D" on their jerseys). The American aesthetic is not just about angry cartoon animals of the 90s, it's much older than that. The 60s Sibir logo is North American too, it was a blatant Habs ripoff.
So apparently CSKA decided to get rid of those embarassing blue stars on their home jerseys.
So happy that stupid blue star is gone! What the hell were they thinking?

I also love that old school Tracktor logo!!!!! i loved it when they did wear it for one game back in 2011. I wish they would at least pull it out more often.
Btw would you guys say KHL should try to be included somehow into NHL videogame (with fair team and player ratings for them just a little weaker than NHL) or what would be the alternative? NHL videogames would be a good marketing for the league as it could create a lot of interest for the KHL teams when players use KHL teams and beat guys who take NHL teams on versus etc. From what I heared though KHL won't allow to be part of a game called "NHL"...

For Westerners it's way easier to understand English team names but off course if Eastern European teams would use them this would be a horrible mix.
Still names like Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, Metallurg Novokuznetsk etc are quite tricky in comparison to Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins etc
KHL were pretty damn stupid about this. KHL teams were in the game in NHL 08 or 09, but then they refused to sell the license and be a part of the NHL game. They said they would create their own video game, but as we can all see, it's nowhere to be seen

I think he meant that names like Spartak, Dynamo and Slovan sound good even to an english-speaking ear.
Yes they are cool just as SKA, CSKA etc. but some names are just hard to market if you consider pronounciation.
