Pretty sure Terry told Darcy to lift the spending limits he had under Golisano, and that's who Darcy decided to spend on.

We all know they tried for Richards too.

People think Terry sits up there and demands the GM signs certain players. All he does is give them an open check book and they decide to sign the tops FAs. People need to stop letting these GMs decisions being justified because Terry said to spend whatever money you want.

How in the world would you know the bolded?

I will die believing that Terry Pegula specifically ordered Darcy to sign Ville Leino especially after he scored that playoff winning goal against us. There is no justification for believing Regier would have signed that player for any reason other than being ordered to do so.

That is just 1 example.

God only knows just how meddling Pegula has been. It's obviously been quite bad.

This building of the front office is taking far too long. Hire some people already.

Does Adams understand how much work needs to be done from now until June? No matter what job you start, there is a time period where your body is just trying to acclimate. Tick, tick, tick

You are overlooking the likelihood that Pegula has ordered this to take enough time to kill off the remainder of this season.

He doesn't want to pay 2 coaches or anyone else for the remainder of this season.

Eliteprospects.com - Steve Yzerman Team Staff Profile

That role was all about grooming Yzerman to eventually replace Holland as the Wings GM. He wasn't thrown into a decision making position immediately. This was all about learning the ins and outs of the hockey ops side of things.

Yzerman also worked his way up through the management side of Hockey Canada as he was their GM for two World Championships prior to getting the GM job for the Olympics.

Joe Sakic at eliteprospects.com

Sakic had three seasons in a similar role prior to being named the Avs GM.

The difference in experience prior to getting an NHL GM job is vastly different when looking at guys like Sakic & Yzerman and then looking at Adams.
Paul Fenton and Jason Botterill went through a more extensive grooming process. Paul Fenton was an AGM for 12 years with Nashville. Tim Murray wasn't a player but he was well prepared. It's a crap shoot with first time GM's. I don't know about Botterill, but Fenton and Murray have off putting personalities. Being able to socialize with the owners and people in the organization is helpful. Your leash will be shortened if you don't get along with co-workers.

You can go out into the yard and take a dump. Chances are the bacteria from your shit will evolve into multiple Sabres staffmembers before Adam's hire even one.

I thought the Karmanos hire was a done deal?!
Adams is interviewing other people too. Scott Luce, Rick Dudley, and Jim Rutherford have been mentioned but no one really knows who Adams is talking to. Salary might be an issue. Maybe Adams is making less than a typical AGM.

According to a reliable source, he was all but hired until they brought him in for orientation. They made him watch this video to reinforce concepts and principles. He hasn't been heard from since.

I think Scott Luce and Dudley were names Friedman threw out as having ties to Buffalo, not that they were actively interviewing. Luce is still with Vegas, Dudley with Florida so I doubt either is interviewing.

Being kind to KA after my abuse not firing Ralph . I can see nobody wanting to coach til Ulllmark close.. So pass.. Maybe betting cheap on Tage.. Ok..

Betting on Staal. A bridge to cozens.. Maybe predictable ..Fail but not a horrible bet..

Hall... He could be alright but a lazy cute piece if crap.. Maybe gets an asset.. Maybe worth a bet for Jack.

Eakin.. I tried to like.. Watching Sam and mitts center..i can't remember if you gave this perimeter no talent no shot hack 2 years.

Hutton was our backup.. Unless they knew Eichel injury a created a facade that became a bridge to next year... this mistake sunk this year.

Depth.. Sheehan and reider alright..

I hope this was a plan or Ralph.. Or we need Agm and talent evaluator .. Or president of hockey to protect and discuss..

Like Granato choice.. But was already here.. Maybe handled Mitts well.. Like peterka . No goalie Eakin and pals is tough to have real faith.

Yesterday I asked Chad (I know some are skeptical) when the front office moves might happen and he said we’ll see some shakeups after the deadline

If Adams trades eakin, I think that will create a lot of optimism.

Not because eakin is so bad we'll he a playoff team without him, but should show Adam's first offseason had too much involvement from Ralph and their player evaluation will at least move in a different direction, whether incorporating better stats or eyes.

I don't expect perfection from Adams, but it would be nice to have a gm that makes moves that don't immediately look stupid. We'll soon find out how much of his moves so far have been him, or a combo of Ralph and covid

I mean he's already paying at least some of the coaches that were just fired, plus the new ones. Krueger is under contract through the end of NEXT season, so he's paying 2 no matter what anyways.

Lol, No.

Pegula doesn't care about money. Not sure what else he has to do, to prove to anyone that money is never a factor.

Hiring a complete front office, including normal positions like AGM and scouts. Most people are thinking about last years PowerPoint in which they actually presented a slide about how preserving their lifestyle was an organizational goal...right before massive layoffs.

You mean the massive layoffs that resulted in their employees making more on unemployment and all have been offered their jobs back when things went to back "normal"

You mean firing people in a front office that built a team to be historic bad?

They cleaned out of a front office that was historically bad. Are people really pinning that on cost cutting?

I know we're a few months past, but was the "lifestyle" thing confirmed?

If I remember correctly, there was an employee who told someone else that word appeared in a presentation but without a ton of context. Was it definitely "maintain the pegula's lifestyle" ,or like a life style branding thing?

Peguals strike me as the type who would splurge to satisfy urges/whims. The cost-cutting stuff would be less being cheap, more being business-savvy in their minds. From their perspective they've sunk millions and millions and will sink millions more for a Cup. Knocking them for being cheap is completely missing the point. Knock them for not having someone or someones competently run the team for them.

Notice it says FAMILY goals

4. The person to watch is Kevyn Adams. He’s the juggler, going through multiple scenarios both big and small. There’s a big difference between “considering” and “doing,” but I think he’s considering almost everything. And I do believe he’s listening to Jack Eichel pitches. At the very least, Adams is getting the lay of the land.
