Karmanos a good option?
I don’t know but this was in an Athletic article about him when Rutherford fired him and the Pens were in the middle of shaking up their hockey ops.

The firing of Karmanos caught a lot of people by surprise — internally and around the NHL, multiple team and league sources said. Karmanos’ job security was not thought to be in jeopardy, the sources said.

His ties to Rutherford run deep and date to their tenure together in Carolina. He was a Hurricanes executive under Rutherford from 1998-2013, a run that included a Cup championship in 2006 and a trip to the Cup Final in 2002.

In fact, Karmanos’ stock had never been higher than over recent months. He interviewed for the GM vacancy with Arizona, and though he did not land that job, Karmanos’ duties with the Penguins were expanded to include managing their AHL affiliate, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

I hope he is not the second Botterill, if in the end it is he who gets this job.

I am torn on Adams. On the one hand, when he talks, he doesn't sound like either an idiot or a conman. On the other, he hasn't yet shown that he knows exactly what he's doing. Lastly, his level of trust with the Pegulas probably represents the single most probable chance to get them to back off of Sabres management, which is absolutely vital to their success. Having a lean management and administration, and Kevyn respecting that, will likely give them the trust that they don't have to have a ton of say in organizational decisions. Let's hope.

To build on this, firing Krueger was more than getting rid of a bad coach. It was also getting rid of a “co-gm “ and effectively killing the “flat management” idea. Something the Pegulas thought was a great idea before the season. I’m assuming Krueger is the one who sold them on it since it handed him a lot of power over player decisions. As evidenced by last offseason.

Now we wait to see what Adams does on the coach, the front office and player decisions. I want to be positive but can’t yet after years of this shit show.

It also got rid of Krueger’s system and guys aka Eakin getting defensive matchups.

He does sound authentic, and I'm using that word purposely, not sarcastically. I agree with your optimism / assessments.

Agreed on your insight; sharing your caution.

Fingers crossed, but we still need to see Granato's plan / usage...

I read where one person said the reason Rutherford left Pittsburgh was over the Karamonos firing. No idea if that is true but maybe Rutherford was forced to let him go and that started the issues there.

I'm glad adams said he is going to get "players who bleed blue and gold" and how he understands that we are "blue collar fans".

Not sure who's pandering was worse. Adams' or Krueger talking about that down syndrome fan at chestnut ridge

Strikes me that Terry really likes Pittsburg connections. It's the GEICO caveman in him......

All this time I didn't know what to make of Adams... Turns out he was just giving Ralph all the rope he needed to hang himself.

I just hope Adams knows not to trade Staal or Hall to the Blue and White.

The one move of firing Krueger dumps a bad coach and lets Adams re-asserted control of hockey ops. Now he may be hiring an assistant GM and getting back to a normal management structure.

Time will tell if he’s any good at his job but well done re-aligning things.
