I think Terry wants good people working for him. People he can trust.
That doesn't work in this business.

It can absolutely work -- if those good, trustworthy people are competent at their job.I think Terry wants good people working for him. People he can trust.

Sure it does. The Bills are a good example.
What you said has nothing to do with Adams not being good.
Yep. Every person alive has at some point worked with someone who has sucked out loud at their job, but has been great at brown nosing the boss.I absolutely believe that Kevyn Adams manages his relationship with ownership waaaaaay better than he manages the NHL roster.
And that is why I expect him to retain his job.
Managing up is an underrated skill to remaining employed as a pro sports GM.
If that is your top criteria ...you will fail more than you succeed
**Kevin Adams will make appearance on the wgr tonight coming up at 5:30ET**
Perhaps he will give his Power Point on Self Improvement 2.0 ?![]()
After the TDL he said he screwed up and put a team that wasn't good enough on the ice. But then he said that when he looks at the team, he sees them in the playoffs with this roster.**Kevin Adams will make appearance on the wgr tonight coming up at 5:30ET**

you pretty much nailed it lolWGR ready with the hard hitting questions like "Is being a Gm hard?" "Do you like pizza?"
That is wishful thinking. What are the odds Adams gets fired in the off season ? 50/50 ?
5% chance he gets fired. At best. What are the odds Adams gets fired in the off season ? 50/50 ?
If he says the answer is in the room but the team is in 3rd last its a very good answer to how garbage Kevyn Adams is at his job. After the TDL he said he screwed up and put a team that wasn't good enough on the ice. Maybe I misunderstood because of the translation, but this is some kind of mutually exclusive nonsense.![]()
Oh Kevyn had a plan. The results just didn’t pan out, but he’s so confident in his original plan, he’s been spending the last 3 years trying to massage the roster in keeping said plan intact, and trying to pivot to solutions to fix what he thinks are the problems. If he says the answer is in the room but the team is in 3rd last its a very good answer to how garbage Kevyn Adams is at his job.
Kevyn constantly says things like this because he has no plan and had no plan for 5 years. He has no clue what he is doing.

Yup. For better or worse (spoiler: it's worse), Adams had a well-defined plan. Let the kids play and develop and it'll all work out.Oh Kevyn had a plan. Of course, we all can see the result of said plan.
You're assuming that if Tage doesn't develop, Kevyn does the exact same thing that he has done. The biggest problem here is that the only reason its gotten even close to working is Tage Thompson coming off the scrap heap to be a top line player.
If that doesn't happen, this is 5 straight years of bottom 5 finishes.

Can't re-write history and assume nothing changes. Maybe he goes and makes a deal and gets a legit 1C that changes the trajectory of things. Maybe he makes a disastrous trade that gets him fired.
We would have drafted top 5 for the last 5 years and likely won another #1 or #2 pick. He would drafted the new #1C somewhere in the top 5 and immediately plugged them into the lineup. That's what would have changed. You're assuming that if Tage doesn't develop, Kevyn does the exact same thing that he has done.

Based on Adams management, what makes you think he's cut out to be POHO when he seems to be flailing at accomplishing building any sort of contender.I think there's a far better chance he's promoted to President of Hockey Operations, than fired. I'd actually like to see that.
The Pegula's actually had it right when they hired LaFontaine. But they chose wrong when they chose Murray over LaFontaine. Murray needs someone to oversee him, not run wild. There's zero chance a PHO allowed the Kane/Bogosian deal. Or the McNabb deal to LA. Or taking Nylander.
If Adams is in that role, and they hire a real GM, I think it could work. Pegula's get their sense of trust in Adams, who can keep the GM from doing some dumb things.
And the Sabres should look for an experienced hand who isn't old school. Tough to do but it's what the job requires at this point.
