Got mad at Adams when I read this, then I went and listened to it, and you totally mischaracterized the conversation.

Adams didn't bring up the handedness at all, Bulldog did. He basically just went along with what Bulldog was saying about having all lefties in your top 4 isn't ideal, but he also gave reasons why it isn't all bad. Reasonable response in my eyes. He also made it clear he wants to re-sign Byram.

Having said that, Adams sucks. He has totally failed at improving the team and the failure deepens with every passing day.

I see other teams out here trying to win. I see Drury making tough decisions about an already good team and finding ways of improving it. I see good players without trade protection moving all over. I see them moving for reasonable prices which we have the assets to beat. I see players on waivers who could be claimed. I see us floundering in last place and continuing to give ice time to players who are playing very poorly.

I've heard all the theories about Pegula and an internal budget. I don't know about all that. I don't know what the reason is, but I know the entire organization is not trying hard enough. Top to bottom. And it's infuriating.

How to even come to terms that Adams is doing his job? He has made no attempt to fix the holes or trade the players. I am sure you heard my complaining about Adams not drafting RD for his first 3 years here.

After 5 years we have Joker in the top 4, Bryson and Gilbert who are not NHL players.

This team is 29th for goals against and defense has been an issue during Kreuger and Granato's tenure too.

As a bi-product of not putting together a defensive unit he is destroying UPL and Levi because the defense is so trash.

Because his job is don’t spend money.

Thats it.

That’s the job.

If it was results he’d be gone. If it was growth he’d be gone. The only thing he does is take bullets for not spending and not making moves. And he remains.

And he’s f***ing flat out told you that they haven’t spend because they were worried about future cap. Think about how f***ing stupid that sounds right now. As if it didn’t to anyone paying attention at the time…

With the cap skyrocketing…and we knew it would, RFAs underperforming…screaming for veteran help, sitting in last place.

Saving money.

As a f***ing plan.

Not that I don't disagree with you but from your perspective that also makes him a liar and a fraud because he has claimed the opposite is true that he has no constraints. I guess if he was honest he would also be fired. He is a little weasel.

yes he’s a liar.

His job is to praise Terry while doing what Terry tells him to do. He doesn’t answer to fans or the media or the players…only Terry. He’s been lying since the moment he walked in and got the job he wasn’t qualified for because he agreed to gut the hockey department that Botterill wouldn’t. Five years later…last place…and he still agrees that running the cheapest department in the league is working out?

He’s a yes man puppet lying piece of shit.

They have destroyed the franchise completely…and he’s still telling you the same things he’s been saying for three years. In last place.

And he’s still here.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I don’t want KA to make any notable trades. The season is lost and he is beyond incompetent and desperate. I want him nowhere near a consequential trade. He needs to be fired immediately after game 82, and let the next guy take a shot of fixing this team.

The Bryam trade last year made no sense, but at least we lucked into him being a much more valuable player than Mitts. I doubt we get so lucky this year in getting the better player…but you damn well know the trade will make no sense. Asshole will trade Kulich, a potential top 6 center, for a second pairing defensemen

If he doesn't get cut, what then? I don't like Adams very much, but his trade value hasn't been that bad in general, he just seems to pick weird trade targets sometimes. You need a top 4 RD, but you trade a 2nd rounder for a 4th liner when the top 4 RD just traded for two 2nd rounders. Byram just didn't make much sense because we already had two left-handed PMD. I don't think he'll trade Kulich, but I wouldn't mind if he traded Cozens for a top 4 RD for example, he even seems to have admitted that we don't have a top 4 RD, before that he apparently still believed in Jokiharju for a few years.

Let me emphasize that I would like to see him fired now so that the new GM has more time next season to sort out this mess.
 
I wonder if we see this team pivot to a tougher style player in the draft or will Adams keep drafting 6'0 160lbs finesse players?

The problem isn’t going to be solved by prioritizing a difficult to project pro toughness in players four to five to six to never making it years away from being rookies who shouldn’t be counted on to do it.

You need to trade for and pay for those players.

Yeah I mean in theory...But Adams isn't going to do that. Its unfortunate the NHL moved away from toughness and promoted finesse and speed while the refs are still stuck in the 1980s where you can still slam people like on the Zucker play and get away with it. NHL refing needs a kick in the ass.

It’s only a problem if you don’t know what to look for, or if you’re intentionally doing it. Plenty of teams are capable of finding said type of players. And I wouldn’t even call it toughness. It’s more of a trait you want in any professional athlete. It’s not like a skill where if you have it you might be missing something else.
 
I think something that he said in a presser a few weeks ago was hilarious and didn’t get enough hate

“I know what a Stanley cup winner looks like”

Mr Adams, you got 12 minutes a night on one of the luckiest teams of all time that missed the playoffs the next what, 3 years? It’s wild to be that he would bring that up as a qualification, especially given Buffalo was one of the teams they luckbox’d past

Unfortunately, if Pegula didnt fire him by now, it's not happening until the offseason at the earliest barring a crazy long losing streak (I suppose 10 games isnt enough. Maybe 15 will do the trick).

So, buckle up, we're crash dummies, and Adams is at the wheel. I want off this ride!
 
in thinking about the last 3 seasons in particular, it seems that there has always been a 'fatal flaw' that needs fixing in the summer.

2 years ago it was goaltending and the PK

Last year it was the power play.

This year it seems to be the inability to hold any lead ever (we almost blew a 4-1 lead in the 3rd when he was a 5 minute major PP last night)

The thing is, typically, Adams tries to fix that specific problem.

The problem continues to be that he expects linear and continuous growth from his younger players and just assumes they are going to be better the next year without giving them anymore support.

If there weren't any red flags previously (there were), 2 years ago after we missed the playoffs by a single point, his press conference should have been a giant red flag.



The victory lap he took in this specific presser when the team MISSED THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE 12TH STRAIGHT YEAR and laughed off a reporter asking him if he was a missed opportunity.

The team is aiming for mediocrity and failing to hit the modest goal every summer. Since that press conference, he's had two full offseasons of attempting to improve and regressing.

The fact that he is STILL here after that disaster of a press conference in December is absolutely mind boggling.
 
KA isn't gone because Pegula likes him, and even if he isn't happy with KA's results, it's not a big deal because Pegula has given up on winning being a big deal. Pegula has chosen losing with a process he's comfortable with, over winning with a process he isn't comfortable with. KA is going to keep being the GM despite all the reasons he should be gone. I seriously doubt KA gets fired until Pegula gives up control.
