How did that work out for Murray, the the organization ?
He sold them all, Adams wouldn't sell them all if he wanted to, we have too many young prospects in Rochester and too many more outside of it. That's not good either.

They aren’t remotely in the same position as an organization. You could trade every single pick and prospect for talent and it still wouldn’t be as bare as the cupboard was after he was done. They lacked an organizational platform to build on. This team would still have a lot of young, talented players that one didn’t have. He was adding to nothing. We never add to anything.

How is that working out for Adams, and the organization?

And no one is saying trade everyone.

and everyone he brought in through tanking and trading went on to great success in this league. Trophies and cups for f***ing everyone.

You do what he did now? You’re the team that gets to celebrate adding an Eichel, RoR or Reinhart to your team.

Which should have happened three f***ing years ago.

Every team considers themselves still in playoff hunt. Standings still tight. No one wants to trade away talent right now. Look at the standings

No trade partners other than to get garbage off their roster.

Well, that's why it had to be done in the summer, when the teams were trading, and Adams didn't do it. He decided that he was comfortable with Jokiharju (Lindy wasn't comfortable), and in attack Adams decided that let the kids play and released the youngest team.

Shoulda got one game in
That is absolutely brutal. If Pegula forced the trade, I’m not sure you can blame that on Murray but who cares at this point.

Afraid to ask what those two 2nd rounders became.

Alex Lintuniemi and Erik Cernak

EDIT: those two picks were originally traded to the Sabres from the Kings for Robyn Regehr.

I would have traded the daughter instead of the player.

Its the kind of nonsense that managers here have had to deal with. Is it any wonder LaFontaine and Craig Patrick stormed out a few days before that deal was made?

McNabb was a physical freak and a good prospect at the time (and we could have used him the past 10 seasons or whatever it has been)

McNabb had a fling with one of the daughters and it went south.
Wow, he literally is the worst possible owner and manager imaginable. Don't !@#$ your employees. Don't let your immediate family and heirs to your empire !@#$ the employees. I have had the misfortune of working in multiple multigenerational businesses, and even the undisciplined morons that I worked for knew that.

not true just since they traded Miller and after O'Reilly donut experience probably since 2016 to rolstn and housely wussification probably 8 to ten years

before than from 1970 to 2012 13 we were the second winningest franchises in the NHL behind Montreal

it really went south w erhoff and leino which some of you who know pegula gossip may know if they weren't anyone competent idea

finally lucic

it's been a while but 25 years it has not

K A and staff probably needs to growba pair eat it and overpay to string wins botteril failed or we'd still have that cocky lil shite eichel and made the playoffs without any depth , instead we have Tage and a possible d core and good young forwards w issues we'll see which is better or worse

If you fire Adams now, you might as well just skip the GM search and give Karmanos and Ventura the reigns and see how that works out. We don't need Pegula rushing to find a new GM. Because Terry maybe can't find a GM better than Adams, and maybe even worse. If Karmanos and Ventura don't work out, you hire an experienced POHO (advisor) in the spring-summer who will conduct a thorough search for a GM and make a plan.

Then hire an experienced POHO or at least an advisor who will find you a GM. What the hell is Adams going to do as president? Is he going to find a new GM or influence hockey decisions (not trading my boys and need more draft picks)?

My hot take on Pegula is that his stupid "flat management" structure and it almost always leads to poorly defined roles and responsibilites, then inevitably Pegula having to take sides between, HC, Scout, and/or Presidents. It was an issue with Darcy, and Lindy, Black, and Brandon, and Whaley.

The only time Pegula's leadership style has ever worked is when he hired McBeane as a package deal, at nearly the same time, from the same org. So whenever there is a football decision to be made it is always 2 v 1 against Terry.

If the Sabres are ever going to get out of this never ending nightmare loop they will likely need to do the same. Bring in a HC/GM pair to continuously out vote Terry.

you have to give ruff guiding ka karmanos
and ownership half a season botteril and current GM have stocked the shelves and if you subtract the first 5 games we have a good record

the eye test says we playing competent Hockey as long as Krebs is doing stupid things and not learning you all might have a case

the team looks like it's on the right track 5 more than false win streaks

off the ledge all give them til the trade deadline they've earned enough good will w McLeod trade and zucker to waste some picks and have some leeway

Any internal promotion should be rejected outright by the fans and media. Enough is enough with these people. Havent even performed a coaching search since Ralph Kruger

I will say that I would be open to Lindy bringing in his own GM, similar to McBeane. Then when the time comes moving Lindy to POHO and hiring the next HC.

Terry isn't going to relinquish his stupid leadership style, that means the deck needs to be stacked against him with somebody he trusts. I think our best bet is that Lindy is shining a light on how dumb everybody is around him.

I get what you are saying, but the NHL is so much different than football. In football, the coaches are the CEO. In the NHL, coaches are at the bottom rung of importance or influence and are the first to get fired.

Personality-wise, we struck gold with the Bills with McDermott. I feel like he is respectful enough where he listens to Pegula, but is bullheaded enough where he does it his own-way (and probably outlines why). He sounds like an extremely convincing and thorough guy. I also think he is in the top 1/4 of NFL coaches, and even without Josh Allen, his floor is pretty high.

Hockey is so much more intricate than the NFL though. Salary cap decisions cannot be reversed in a year or 2. You are scouting teens across the planet in apples-to-oranges leagues and trying to project how they will play in the NHL as adults. The critical mix for an NHL team is much more complicated than a football team.

So let's just put Lindy as POHO.... maybe? He has extensive experience as a player, captain, and coach, and has seen multiple organizations at this point. He carries credibility and seems like he should be well-respected. Bringing in his own GM would be a good move, obviously because that is a big workload. I would rather Lindy bring in a GM as POHO though and not a HC. I think many GM candidates would balk at being selected by a HC. Firing a coach is a lever any GM should be free to pull at any time.

Another example of this ownership fking over the Sabres.
