The guy inherits Eichel, Reinhart and Mittelstadt. Our center core is now Thompson, McLeod, Lafferty, Krebs
We still don't have a good partner for Dahlin.
Goaltending is an ongoing experiment.

Fire him.
He screwed up almost everywhere. With goalies, we don't have a partner not only for Dahlin, but also for Power. But we have the useless Byram. We have almost only kids in the top 6 and it doesn't work. He deserves to be fired.

Goalie wise I give him the benefit of the doubt as he's tried. They just haven't worked out. Comrie played well in Winnipeg, came here and wasn't good. He goes back to Winnipeg this season and in 3 games is playing great.

Almost five years and it's not his fault? Ullmark left a long time ago, and even when Ullmark was still around we had blind Hutton, then mostly bad goalies. But I was even talking about this season now. Why did he give up Reimer, why isn't Levi playing in Rochester, but sitting on the bench without playing practice? It makes no sense. So yeah, Adams screwed up at every position, including goalies.

Goalie is unquestionably the position Adams has mismanaged the worst, which is saying something since he's mismanaged all of them.

His first season he chose not to replace Hutton, who's eyes literally didn't work.

He chose to lowball Ullmark, leading him to arbitration and eventually settling on a 1 year contract for his final year of RFA. Ullmark then walked for nothing.

Losing Ullmark then led to 3 years of not having an NHL caliber starter on the roster and battling for lowest cap spent on goalies every season.

UPL emerged as starting caliber for about half the season last year, so Adams gave him the bag.

Adams plan at goalie has essentially been "Lets hope a guy that Jason Botterill drafted with Tim Murray's staff turns out to be good, or the prospect that I traded Sam Reinhart for turns out to be good". No back up plan and no one to block the 2 prospects.

Well the prospect he traded for managed to block Portillo so he went +-0 when it comes to adding to the pipeline.

I tend to stick up for Adams more often than not, specifically with this last offseason:
  • McLeod trade - Good (so far anyway)
  • Zucker signing - Good
  • Rebuilt 4th line of NAK, Lafferty, Malenstyn - Good
I never even really cared about getting another top 6 forward, I was extremely bullish on Benny having that rare Marner-like breakthrough in his 19YO season (yes, I know this is a stupid thought process, but I trusted what I saw last year). While Benson's injury and Dahlin/Cozens/Quinn's slow starts have really been the crux of the team's early season struggles, I still find the Mitts trade anger inducing.

Mitts was our leading scorer while playing with our worst wingers, and he yet he was still on pace to demand a contract that would be no higher than 5th or 6th among our skaters. There was no reason to move him from a cap or roster building perspective. On top of all that, Byram was a bottom 4 defenseman struggling to make an impact.

Every day I scratch my head wondering how Adams looked at his roster and thought "Nah, we don't need our leading scorer here anymore, that's not what this roster needs."

The fact that we're already hearing Byram's name in trade whispers just rekindles the flames, like "no f***ing shit Adams, what the hell were you thinking?"

He already is worst GM in history of the organization and that's saying something with our recent history.

He let talent go or traded it.

Why hasn't anyone talked about how bad the Reinhart trade was? Or Jack Eichel?

We traded a leading goal scorer in the NHL with 57 goals and 94 points who wins a Stanley Cup for an undersized goalie prospect (Levi) and late first rounder (Jiri Kulich).

They have drafted lots of players with limited IQ.

He's never addressed goaltending (Craig Anderson) was his answer for a while.

And perhaps the two worst things are continuing to invest in meaningless players who shouldn't be here (Okposo, Girgensons, Etc.) and sign long-term contracts to players who shouldn't get them or hadn't earned them (Most of our current roster). The Samuelsson signing is argubaly one of the worst signings of all time. He had never scored an NHL goal or played a full season even before being gifted a 7-year deal. What incentive is there with these long-term deals? This organization is complacent.

He had 0 NHL Executive experience before being gifted one of 32 jobs in the WORLD. But that's on our owner.

Botterill finally grew a spine and said F off and he fired him. Adams is happy to be here.

I bet Adams thought he was selling high on Mittelstadt and buying low on Byram. An inexplicable lapse in judgement of the team's needs and in player evaluation.

Adams thought “I’ve already paid two centers and this one outproduced both of them and needs a contract”. That is the extent of his tought process.

It’s always money. Always.

Hopefully his league rep of being annoying and difficult to deal with has changed with this latest round of checking around the league for a roster upgrade.

No he is definitely not. Unsigned RFA’s were going for pennies on the dollar when we moved Reinhart (who didn’t want to be here and was going to walk to FA) - Adams got value at the time.

We all wanted to keep Rhino but it just couldn’t happen sadly. I’d fault him more for not signing him long term than the actual trade value.

Not just trade him away. HE NEVER APPROACHED HIM ABOUT AN EXTENSION.

It is crazy town.

I am convinced that the big issues with Pegula isn't actually meddling in specific roster moves, its that his constant "flat management structure" leads to Terry always splitting up the hockey people in the room. So over the years he is always picking sides. Now he has yes men everywhere so it is cohesive.

I believe the BIlls only work because McBeane came in together and no matter what happens, when it comes to football ops, it is always 2 against 1.

If the Sabres are going to go down the Ruff route I prefer they lean into it and let him bring in his own GM so that like the Bills the Sabres are always a unified 2 v 1 against Terry. If that means we are a constant 93 point team of try hards for the rest of time, so be it. Just stabilize hockey in Buffalo again.

He's been pretty good with the players he's acquired. Let's see if he can assemble an actual playoff team. I still think Ruff coming in saved his ass. Im not sure he totally revamps the bottom 6 and brings in guys that are tough to play against if Ruff wasn't signed.

Maybe its just your wording but wasn't he suppose to assemble a playoff team last year? This team is not making the playoffs as it stands now.

If this team doesn't make the playoffs this year Adams should be canned.

As of now if the team does make the playoffs it seems to be by benching the core of this team and forcing the bottom 6 to kick the top 6 in the ass.

I’d fire Adams either way.
