A lot of things annoyed me about this press conference, but I think the thing that may have annoyed me the most was when he pointed to last night’s overtime loss, their FIFTH LOSS IN A ROW, as some type of moral victory and/or progress because they managed to get a loser point. In their fifth straight loss. :help:

Adams constantly saying “we aren’t a destination city” should drive Terry nuts….should

Terry does owns another team right down route 5 and one of his highest ranking employees keeps talking about how not awesome Buffalo is.

Honestly, eff this guy. He’s basically the lead recruiter for the org and all he keeps saying publicly is why it sucks here.
 
I flipped the switch and walked out over the summer. I just came back a few times to look through the window. Now that the guy throwing the party fell over drunk and smashed the table, I'm proud of all of you who are about to walk out where I'm at. It's cold, and just a few half-full bottles lying around, but we can still have a good time looking through some neighbors windows...if they have a real hockey game on. Or we can just break some sticks off and play with a rock in the street. There's options.

Listened to this while driving earlier. It was sickening. His contempt for even needing to be there, his snark and smugness. So many times I wanted to scream in his face that it is his FIFTH SEASON. He has fed us this line about keeping things open for the future, and signing the mediocre kids he has rostered far above their heads, EVERY SINGLE YEAR OF HIS TENURE. Kevyn, it is NOW THE TIME THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE BENEFITTING FROM YOUR GUTTED, EMPTY ROSTERS WE SUFFERED WITH YEARS AGO. Everything he said was as if he was hired before last offseason, not FIVE OFFSEASONS AGO.

Absolutely disgusting. The worst press conference I've seen in my decades as a buffalo sports fan.

Players not wanting to be traded to Buffalo has absolutely nothing to do with missing the playoffs every year.

If you didn't read the Matthew Fairburn article in The Athletic you really need to check it out: a thorough and clinical dissection of all the bullshit Adams spouted today.

I will say this, and this alone, when it comes to Adams/Pegula...

The Sabres have spent money. They are not misers. To suggest that they are is stupid.

They have also made draft picks that we generally liked at the time.

Where they have failed, time and again, is in properly developing these guys. It's an absurd contrast to the Reiger years, where he would stash players away for years until they were ready.

I think Adams should be fired because he has no understanding of how to run an organization, not because he wasn't aggressive towards big fish. He can bring all the big fish in that he wants, but this is a cultural issue that needs to be built from the ground up and he cannot do it. He simply cannot.

Just to come back to this.

The people of, and the fans of, buffalo do not want to hear the city of buffalo as an excuse for anything. It’s that simple.

We have seen the Sabres thrive in Buffalo at times. We have seen free agents come to Buffalo. We have seen great players traded to buffalo. We have seen the bills end their drought with competence and acquiring great players without ever using the city as an excuse.

Making any excuse in year 5 is a joke. Being dismissive in year 5 is a joke. Using the city as an excuse ever is tone deaf and moronic. It has nothing to do with his failures.

Enjoy your position of power and arrogance now Adams, you’ll soon be unemployed and past your career peak (that will be looked at as a joke).
