Fairburn destroys Adams in LIVE with Baker about palms trees and that nonsense.

I wonder how he would sing if he were the GM of a team from Vladivostok or Khabarovsk, palms in Sochi?
Fairburn hits the nail on the head.

Players not wanting to come to Buffalo is not because of the city, They don't to come because of how the organization is ran.

Adams was the one who set the timeline. The fans did not put that on him.

He said 4 years we will make the playoffs. He had the assets, he drafted the players, he made the trades. He had a plan.

We all waited, we all kept calm for 3-4 years believing he had a plan.

We didn't put that on him he did.

We are on year 5 and we still aren't close and he has no answers, how can anyone defend that?

But even more, Fairburn refutes Adams' words, saying that there are many players from Canada, which is close to Buffalo, Byram and Krebs like Buffalo, why not find other players like that, he also said that there are Finns, Russians, Czechs and Swedes who can agree, so this is all empty chatter of an idiot GM. Not to mention the 80% of players without trade protection.

I agree too. Players from Canada especially Ontario can play away from the Toronto Market and the media, pay less taxes and just hop over the border and be home.

Adams is a failure.

Bulldog said something I thought felt right. He sounded defeated. Went right to excuses because to him they are seen as reasons. That he knows he can’t get things done that he wants to. He’s shot. It’s over. And yet…he’s going to remain of this team because he’s Pegula’s guy.

He’s tired of losing on NTCs and NMCs and UFAs. Cool. I would be too.

But you need to have a f***ing next idea. It can’t be just…well our best case scenarios fell through so we will sit on the cap and prospects another year. People get traded that you could have gotten. To places with taxes and bad winters. And that’s why you have to be fired. Not because Necas wouldn’t sign an extension or Ehlers wouldn’t sign an extension or every player with a NTC told you to f*** off. Because plenty of people have changed teams in the last five years and you missed out on help time and time again to spend less, sit on futures, run out the youngest team, and lose.

Marino without NMC/NTC go to Utah where more palms.

Jensen without NMC/NTC go to Ottawa where more palms.

Kovacevic without NMC/NTC go to New Jersey where more palms.

Fabbro without NMC/NTC go to Columbus where more palms.
f***, they just put him on the waiver, was it really that hard to call Trotz and give him a 7th round pick for Fabbro, you have a cap, you have Jokiharju and Bryson in the top 4, and your defenseman, the #1 pick, is still struggling. How stupid do you have to be to not have control over the situation.

This doesn't sound that unreasonable?

Ultimately winning solves all problems. When you haven't won anything in 13 years and are constantly spiraling, Buffalo doesn't have a ton to fall back on as a destination. Not that it's absolutely impossible to get players but it's harder.
The GM of a team struggling to attract players just went on tv and told everyone he is incapable of doing his job because of taxes and palm trees. What does the next player he targets in UFA say to that? Want to come play for a defeated man who is openly telling players this place sucks?

And it, again, ignores the large number of players that have moved while he’s been here that he could have gotten…and didn’t.

This is nonsense.

Nobody is asking him to sign all the UFAs, you had five years and you continue to be an idiot. Trade, stop looking for excuses for your incompetent work. Watch how smart GMs do it and repeat after them. You have a fashionable analytics department, a scouting department, an experienced AGM, an experienced coach who can tell you who he needs. Why the hell do you continue to whine in the press. He is just pathetic.

Even the owner has to be pissed about how bad that interview went.
Team value is rising. Expansion fees are coming. He doesn’t have to face one solitary question or comment. Adams did the only thing actually in his job description today. Take the heat…don’t add to payroll. Pegula is thrilled with how today went.

Adams traded one of the best goal scorers in the NHL and we don't even have a player on the roster to show for it.

What does that have to do with winning or palm trees?

If there are no palm trees in Buffalo, then why was poor Granato fired?
This alone proves to me that there are, indeed, palm trees in Buffalo.
Nice try KevYn.

Have any of the trades that he's pulled off moved the needle in the right direction?
In a vacuum, I think all the trades he’s made have been ok.

The issue is his roster building hasn’t been good enough.

He tried to speed things up adding Staal and Hall. And when that moon shot flopped, it was tear it down and reboot things. Again.

And his vision hasn’t played out in a timely manner because of bets on internal growth that haven’t paid off.

Not gonna quote all of you and argue about it for the next 4 hours. Just saying the entirety of that tweet, not just the palm trees part, makes sense to me.

Seems like he knows the team needs to be a winner to attract players, the city itself isn't going to do it... you're welcome to tell me the many, many, many reasons he failed to make Buffalo a winner but trust me, I'm aware.

One favorite catch-phrase we didn't hear today ...

"We have a plan and we're sticking to it."

Why was it necessary to rebuild and not re-equip, I noticed that smart and experienced GMs are in no hurry to do this.

You don’t build a winner by doing nothing, sitting on cap space, and running out he youngest team in the league.

He can’t say one thing and then operate the opposite and have that be allowed to pass.

He operates like they’re right on track. He just ignores that the train is heading towards a f***ing brick wall for the 5th straight season under his guidance.

No, I know that, why rebuild, look for hockey deals.
Hockey deals add payroll to a team that purposely spent to the floor (twice faking it with contracts and unreal money) for three years because the owner is a piece of shit.
