Prospect Info: Kevin Korchinski, 7th Overall, 2022 NHL Draft

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I'm guessing Lev goes back down in the corresponding move. Remember TJ Brodie? Also I have found it rather easy to forget that Seth Jones ever existed.

1g 5a in last 10GP inRockford...but MOarE SiGNIFiCANT is the fact in this stretch he is PLUS 9!!!!

Maybe he has turned a corner and figured out what he mist do defensiveky...still way underwater forctgexsesson but +9over lsst 10GP is at least very encouraging..Still very young in terms of experience pkaying pro defens agaibst men..Needsxtinecto mature and grow into his body.

As a puck transporter hevis good..but once ino-zone he lacks a good lint shot..has to distribute..I guess you cannot have everything..

.I just do not think Kk will ever beca big goal scorer fron thevpint.

Schaefer will be ..but also not because of a piibtcshot that is special...rather hexwill score by takibg pucks in closer to the betcand firing writers or dekibg goaliesxwith greT hands.
Kk will exclat puck transport tobthebo-zobe but then rely on passing to create goalscforvotgers.

Which iscoj ..but not an elite franchise dman like Schaefer willbe.

Howver you can argue that if Kk has improved now or is improving drcebsiveky (though never goibg to beca shutdown D) then at least he coukdcstY in the show and so maybe Hawkscoriority has got to be a better top 2 libe C who may drive even the top line..

It is not lije Schefsrxwoykd be redundant..but Kk as 3LD is not what Hawks drafted him that high to be.
IF Hawks get tge #1maybevthey trade down 1 spit to get Misa anyway and collect a ransom fromSJ or from any team draftibg 2nd after lotto..

Kk gives Hawks option in this scenario if it happens.

He looked great earlier in the season in RFD, thought he looked good when up too. Last few games (which were not the most recent) I watched he seemed to be playing conservative, not activating nearly as much, but also had some bad shifts late. Good to see him back.

I think there's some cognitive dissonance due to his playing in the NHL already. Age 20 is still damn raw for a Dman.

last year should probably be thrown out...in an ideal world he would've went through the same course of development as Lev and spent 90% of the year in RFD before being called up for a dozen games, they made a mistake but next year will be a big year to see what they have in him

This is spot on. It was a disservice to Korchinski to have him at the NHL level last year. Most if not all players aren't ready to make the jump from juniors to the NHL. Korchinski has really developed well this season and is in the right direction.

I can tend to have blinders on when I like a player and hope I am not unduly optimistic about Korchiski but there is something about him that I really like. I hope he has a solid finish to the year here and can show some offense.

Would also like to see Bedard go on a heater. He is barely leading the team in points w Tevo and Donato neck and neck with him. That should not be the case.

curious to see his splits at W vs C after a large sample size of games

Anecdotally it didn’t seem like the switch to wing made a damn bit of a difference. He just needs to not be playing with a constantly rotating cast of third and fourth liners.

And Nazar is fine, probably a future top six player on a good team, but he’s still currently below the level of what Bedard needs.

Wouldn’t really matter. He’s not physically capable of playing center right now, and he’s not defensively responsible enough to do so either.

Wing is his position until he proves otherwise.
agree, he has a lot of work to do on his skating etc
