Assuming the organization thinks he is ready, I don't see the problem with playing McIlrath, especially against Buffalo. See how he handles it. If we can roll with a 20 year old goalie with one career start we can give McIlrath 14 sheltered minutes.

Long term (if it comes to that) I'm not sure I would move Yandle over, he's still learning the system and still looks like he's adjusting. I would rather not add to his burden. Yet.

Can someone sticky this so we can stop going in circles concerning McIlrath?

“@NYP_Brooksie: If Klein is out a while, Rangers will have to go with 6 D at least for immediate future due to cap issues.”

How long was Zucc out after blocking that shot against the sabres? 6-8 weeks?

Some Yotes fans reported he's never played the right side.

Now would not be a good time to experiment with that

Yandle popped up on the right a bit last night. Did not look comfortable there. Saw him double take a couple times.

I think if he broke his arm they would flat out just announce that...

No reason to keep silent on something like that. He can't play with a broken arm.

Thats my thought as well. Sending him to NY for a MRI to assess if there is ligament or tendon damage is more likely.

But if there is a break, they may be sending him to NY to see if he needs surgery or not. You have to think that if a break is bad enough to require going under the knife he'd be ready for a return later rather than sooner. Its possible that they're holding off on announcing anything until they get a better idea of just how long he will be out.

That is only if its a long term issue.

McIlrath would only be called up if Klein were to miss limited time with something like a bad bruise, and only if AV wants to avoid having to shuffle the entire D and having someone play out of position.

So I don't understand the point of your post. Calling up someone who has a 700k cap hit for 3 days will zero impact.

He had X-ray's last night so the team knows what is going on. Sending him to NY is to find out from the team doctors (who don't all travel with the team) what the severity is, and what the next form of treatment is.

I am still holding out hope for the fact that his arm was NOT in a sling when leaving the arena last night.

which would mean just ligament/tendon damage?

Maybe, or maybe just a bad bruise that was wrapped in a cooling wrap to keep swelling down. Complete speculation.

you know what, that makes sense...

Bone bruise, which hurts like ****ING HELL (my shoulder had this issue when I fell on it a month ago), sounds like the issue... If so, that's 2-3 weeks...

I have been thinking bone bruise the whole time. I am hoping that is what it is.

Gotcha. They are much different than a muscle bruise--it doesn't feel soft, and when it happens you hardly feel it, and then about 10-20 seconds later this excruciating pain hits you and you feel like you're going to puke.

No sling would be the treatment for that.. you wrap it up, and take it easy. There's no fix other than reducing the swelling and some light physical therapy

I got a pretty bad bone bruise in my knee playing in college. It was more painful than any bone that I have ever broken.

Fingers crossed.

Yeah, exactly my point. it hurts SO bad... I think I laid on the ice when I fell on my shoulder socket bone for about 30 seconds and the pain just got worst with every passing second.

I broke my arm when I was a kid, it was nowhere near as bad as my shoulder felt that night

He's one tough SOB to begin with and he was in a LOT of pain there. I hate seeing that. I hope he'll be alright.

I took a slap shot very hard to the arm a few years ago, that found a vulnerable spot in my chest/arm protector that bruised my bone very badly. I felt dizzy and almost passed out on the ice about 15 seconds after.
