Sure, he was bad last year but people are making a lot of assumptions that he's toast at 32.
Plus we needed scoring Center depth with Malkin declining and Eller likely to be worse next year.

Depending on what the deal is, I might be pretty okay with this.

Edited it I forget he was in St. Louis I thought he was still in Philadelphia for some reason. Been a rough week, I had Phenomena and now battling a stye so its been rough trying to get some rest and my mind is mush.

He's what 31, coming off his worse season and still making like 3.5 for multiple seasons.

Since we are Pittsburgh and we do dumb shit that means they sent out smith in the deal but probably added a pick "since smith makes more and Hayes is a center"

When we want youth, speed, aggression, and physicality in the system we trade for Hayes....

He might be. Depends if he bounces back.
I'll give the nod to Eller for 2022-23 though. Outscored him and certainly outdefended him, in a harsher role.
