It's as much about necessity for me as it is anything else. I think when he looks better on the wing it is either because of the upgrade in linemates (when he's on the second line), or because it's less demanding than centre (when he's on the third line). Think he'll be particularly needed at centre whenever Simmonds returns to a top nine role (I'd guess Engvall drops to the fourth line).
 
It's unfair to Kerfoot, but whenever I see Kerfoot, I'm reminded that for 1M more, we could have Kadri. It's like would you rather have Kerfoot and Engvall or Kadri. That said, he's the highest paid forward outside of the big 4, so with speculation that we are adding a wing to the top 2 lines, Kerfoot likely need to be involved to make the salary work, unless we get rid of the 5M cap of Anderson for a cheaper goalie.

I would take everyone else instead other then Kotton head and Turris without any numbers or microcosms shown and snapshots
I’m just saying I would take any of those players

to me 15 seems to be a nice guy and teammate and he certainly can fly and he’s obviously athletic and all this nice stuff that you want to see ..
But he’s like those fast small rink rats you grew up with ..that fast guy you would see skating around open skate or even in roller skates , that guy !!
But when it came time for “that guy “ to play hockey on the ice or the roller rink or on the ground ( street hockey ) he was meh .. or soft or dumb with the puck or ball , shoot when he shouldn’t and pass when he shouldn’t and shot for your head cuz he didn’t have control or that “ hockey sense “ also he was careless with his stick .. and coaches hated him but loved his “ potential “ but he never did get to that level !you know , that guy !

I give you the most straw head dumb for hockey , skates forever without accomplishing much , flashes of adequate once and a while ..

So go for it .. his stats and % with the puck verses without , blah blah blah on and on ... watch him , go old school for those who can , watch him , he will wow you never ! And the play almost always ends on his stick !
Watch him figure skate around the ice , it’s incredible !
Anyway bring it on if you want , for me , no thank you, I want more points , more hits more size and bite with a scoring touch better then what we have ..
I’ll take that guy or at the very least if he was a smoothie, awesome , I like them as well , ahh but they have to produce much higher if you see that type of player , love them , wish had more of them , but you need to balance them with other types of players with bite to them and not just older vets Draft or obtain some of them as well
Hyman with bite basically , hit everything and play your ass off and put up Zach numbers
Now that’s what we need on our 3rd and 4th lines more
Sorry Alex you just don’t have that , sorry nothing against him , just hast shown it on a regular Basis and has horrible numbers .
So let’s go get Staal for the rest of this year and rebuild the bottom 6 afterwards and get one elite left winger

For a guy whose capable of being a top 6 winger or a backup 3C and can also PK, he's actually a fairly useful player.

I don't think he will be difficult to move, though likely won't earn a significant return.

I'm fine with him staying put if a clear upgrade on the trade market doesn't materialize

He still follows them on Twitter and CBJ #16 is still in his bio.
 
Kerfoot fills his role well and he's good at it. He just makes the most money out of expendable players, is all.

I'm not a fan, he's not a bad player but he's been a bit of a misfit on this team. Always different line mates, switching back and forth between C and LW, never really finding chemistry with what hes been given.

I really wished we kept Kadri, we only had 2 playoff games with Matthews-Tavares-Kadri

I prefer my 3rd liners to have a more physical game than Kerfoot. It seems crazy to keep Spezza as a 4th liner for the playoffs when he's been the 4th best forward on the entire team this year. I think he could see a promotion.

Who’s fault is that though? I’m over the Kadri trade and I have no ill will towards Barrie anymore, mind you.

I like Max Domi but I don't think his time to be a Leaf has come yet, and he seems to bounce around as much as Galchenyuk. Kind of want to limit the number of those reclamations.

He’s better on the wing, no question and we saw it again the moment he was pulled from that line. If that’s a very good center, I’m not sure what good is anymore, crap on draws, couldn’t use his speed as well, gets owned down low and isn’t great at matchups. Look, the guy is a serviceable NHLer, I like him okay actually with Nylander and JT, but the tire pumping here is wrapped up with trying to justify the Kadri trade or people hated Kadri, whatever, it’s irrelevant noise. He’s OKAY and he’s a more attractive winger than center, it wasn’t a surprise suddenly the third line looked better when he was moved off center, Keefe can see it too. It’s nice he can slot in at center, good versatility, but let’s not over state his effectiveness.

He’s not on the roster next year, there is no doubt. If we keep him this year fine, he has his moments, but he’s a secondary piece and probably moves down.

I don’t mind Kerfoot, he actually tries to throw his body around but it doesn’t do much damage given his smaller build. He can play center or wing, slide up and down the lineup and play on either the PP or PK.

If we can facilitate a deal with Chicago retaining another 50% of an contract that the original trading partner already retains 50% of, we can keep Kerfoot while adding that extra player whether that’s Foligno, Palmieri, etc
 
Kerfoot is a good, small, pesty player.

I like him. But in a cap world? Management looks at him and goes ouch.

So why, why, would anyone take him without retention

He is a decent player

He tries.

But thanks to covid out of nowhere, with a flat cap he becomes a topic of, get him out of here.

Every GM in the NHL is pretty smart, no one is taking this guy off our hands without retention or picks.

Kerfoot is pretty average as a C, better as a winger, but still nothing outstanding. The problem is that finding someone better, within the cap, and not costing too much isn’t easy. We can find some better defensive guys at C, but they have fourth line production. He’s just one of those guys on a team, that if we keep him fine, if we don’t fine too. It’s not hard to upgrade his play as a winger.

I really liked Kadri, but I his production was no better at 3C, and his issues and conflicts with management over multiple seasons saw him shipped out. A more mature version of a Kadri would be great at 3C, but that’s not the Kadri we had. A playoff performer version of Bennett would be great, but then the regular season version isn’t very good.
 
That interview was a load of crap someone on it is either braindead or trolling Leafs fans. Didn't even watch half of it because it started good but got worse and worse until he proposed the Leafs make an offer for Forsberg (Who he claimed was once a top 10 forward in the league) that's: Robertson, Amirov, 1st, 1st, Engvall, Kerfoot. At that point he lost all credibility, at least completely for this take or interview. It's the worst take I've ever heard from any insider or executive. He absolutely pumps tires on Forsberg, dumps Kerfoot, neglects prospect and pick value drastically & calls Amirov a middling prospect. That guys a bad joke, whichever 1 of the 2 said it.
