Whatever, come June it'll all be ancient history.

Just water under the bridge.

The coach. Hmm. Well, I guess they have to figure out who their players are going to be, first. They can't afford really anything different than the roster they have now, plus their injured guys.

I would actually keep Yeo, and see what happens next season, there's little reason to pick your next new coach before you know what direction you're taking, competing, re-building or praying.
the thing is though, they keep talking about how they are in a good spot and how injuries have been a huge hit to the team. they also say they are going to compete and be aggressive as far as retooling the team. with some of the call ups and new guys they have playing, i wouldn't be surprised if they make zero positive moves to help the roster to make the team competitive like they want. throw on top of that the zero confidence i have in the coaching staff and management and i see the same thing happening over and over until the good pieces they do have don't resign and leave. (TK, hart, sanhiem for example.)

I got news for you: they're not trading Atkinson. And the time to commit to youth was when we still had a veteran core to build around. No, most likely they're going to dump off JVR in some way, and then turn around and use his cap space for another deadend veteran in some vain attempt to compete for a playoff berth.
I think there is little point in dumping JVR, since it will cost them to do so, draft picks, or extended cap hit, or something. As the contract is only one more season. And plus, he truly remains one of the better players on the roster. Like, really, he's only a season removed from leading scorer, and he has been no worse than a lot of other, much more pressing problems...like Provorov...like Hayes...like Ellis for frig's sake.

But he doesnt shoot, he only deflects... he doesnt hit... he isnt a friend of Hayes and eating popcorn with Cevin! So we would be stupid to let him stay here!

Oh and i dont think he ever was in the state of miNNy. So he knows nothing about the rEaL hOcKeY wOrLd

I agree completely, which is why it’s going to happen.

no! no no no, no way.

As a Flyer money magicker, responsible for generating income above expenses....I would certainly invest in a helluva lot of other things before trading JvR for scraps. The ideas are literally endless.

Loyalty lol

That clown has played 60 more games than he's deserved this season for a team he has zero ties with

I guess loyalty is a more important skill than being good at your job
The Flyers should put up some sort of plaque around their dressing room emphasizing the priority of team over individual or something. Just spitballing here.

I don't have a problem with Hayes's comments. Sure, he sticks up for his friend and lauds his presence on the team, but he also expresses understanding in the hockey decisions that have to be made. Hayes also points out the need for younger players go get games in at the NHL level.

he would show great leadership, taking himself out of the lineup, so the young guys could play.

I don't think so. Fletcher is aggressively bad and uravelling all the work Hexy did to keep the mediocrity.

Yeah this could well be the case. Giroux is a huge loss who won't be replaced, and it's far from certain they'll decide they want to keep Sanheim. Who also won't be replaced. At this point we can't assume Ellis will be back, but his cap hit will exist.

There are more roads for the team to be worse then there are for improvement. Even with Couturier back.
