Well summarized.
I'm thinking there are either a few Flyers fans in here or several of Vinny's relatives jumping in to protect his honour. Yet his actions didn't show much.
The "crosschecks" are pretty standard. Stand in front of the net, you'll get moved. It's how dmen are told to deal with opposition forwards blocking their goaltender. Lowe wasn't doing anything to "go after" Lecavalier. He was playing hard-nosed hockey. Vinny didn't like it, and fair enough... he said "let's go" and wound up having his lunch handed to him.
He wanted to get after Lowe a 2nd time to balance out the score sheet, and I have absolutely no problem with that either. Assuming you give him equal opportunity. When you're going at a guy who's just made a play and still watching the puck, and you start flailing at him like my sister would do to me a couple decades ago... well, that's both weak and pathetic.
Could another Flyer have come after Lowe on account of their teammate having been knocked around? Sure. THAT is code. A way of the league keeping its eager colts in line, I suppose. But if you're going to fight your own fight, show the dignity to make it fair.
The announcers need some serious Flyer de-programming.
