Struble has a mean streak a mile wide, we haven't seen it because he's also smart enough to keep that on the back burner and play safe hockey.

I wouldn't trade Struble for a bottom 6 forward. You can sign those cheap and frankly, we are developing a pile of them.

Keep Kakko and bronze him. He's unlikely to break out into a 60 point forward and if by rare chance he does, good for the Rangers.

Lol. It was a generalized post. “You all” refers to your fanbase, whether or not you specifically were in here ranting in this instance is irrelevant. You’re ranting now though lmao, typed up that big long winded essay for nothing 😂. Read carefully next time lol.

“You all” as a generalized statement of a fan base is ironic, considering you 1) don’t know who I’m a fan of, 2) have now implied that anyone who is saying this doesn’t work for the Rangers is a Rangers fan, 3) presumed you speak for all MTL fans, despite there being more than one, including the OP of this thread, who clearly disagree with your assertions.

If a 6-sentence reply is a “ranting,” “long-winded essay” to you, that’s probably saying a lot more about you than me. I read perfectly carefully - you replied directly to my post with “you.” Perhaps trying to be more clear next time, rather than insulting my intelligence.

Why are the Habs as a bottom team trying to plug holes in the present team by trading futures. This is nonsense.
You mean like they did with Dach and Newhook? Both who have looked good for us?

I don't love this trade because I think Struble is a better player right now, so adding a pick is wild to me.

It's pretty rare to see Habs fans disagree on the main boards. Even here you don't reply to the Habs fan to disagree.

If you want to act like you have your own unique opinion it might help by setting yourself apart from some of the more outlandish takes rather than just complaing about those who point them out.
We frequently disagree with one another. Your assertion is not at all accurate.

The NYR are short in defensemen, with Lindgren injury.

Particularly LHD.
Even with Lindgren, some more depth on the left side wouldn't be a luxury for the Rangers.

MTL need offense, with Laine apparently out long term.
Kakko isn't really an offensive contributor as of now, but MTL are in a position to bet on those kind of gambles.

Kakko for Struble + a 3rd

Hmmm I like Struble. How is Kakko's mentality? I feel he isn't meeting expectations there - is it his attitude? Otherwise, id say sure. Must be good because i wouldnt be excited either way.

Yes and no..

Rebuilding teams sell all they can and get all the assets they can grab. When eventually they have more assets than they can actually use, they get to a point where they can consolidate those items for better ones. Montreal has Hutson, Guhle, Engstrom, Matheson and Wifi right now on LD, so it coudl be that Struble is expendable; he woudl be a third pairing at best right now. Considering that the talk was to be "in the mix" this year, i thought maybe we were at that point.

I look at wingers in the pipelines and no one strikes me as being ready to play a top 6 role right now. In fact, even with Laine there may have been a hole left in the top 6 - it looked like Roy and Newhook would audition, but i wouldn't be mad at getting an upgrade over those two. I'm not sold that Kakko fits there, but it does sound like the type of gamble Hughes likes.

Looking at the roster now, though, i think Guhle starts on the right and Matheson, Hutson and Wifi (ugh) on the left. I think i'd rather keep Struble for that and because i dont think the habs make the playoffs this season. The top 6 roster spot should be perfect for Demidov next year
