Do the rangers have any interest in Aatu Raty as a probable 3c as centerpiece? Bits have to be added of course, perhaps a b level D prospect also? Sawyer Mynio?

Let me know if I'm way off base. Miller's next contract makes me a bit leery.

Part of the issue with K'Andre is that compromise the Rangers made out of necessity, to keep his cap him down a bit on that "bridge deal"...they were always borrowing on future credit and going to have to pay big on that next deal. Even if he doesn't have a tremendous season...i still think something around the Sanheim deal is the starting point for his next contract ask. Being an older comp signed awhile ago under a different cap environment...it wouldn't surprise me to even have him come in with the Hanifin deal as an asking price. Not sure he'll get it...but whatever you think of him as an toolsy and talented but definitely imperfect player, $6.25M+ seems very much plausible, and anywhere up to $7M on a long-term deal.

So that puts a damper on his "value" in trade i think. It also just really limits the prospective "market" of teams that can, or would want to afford a guy like him at that price as part of their "core" defence group.

Like, i'd certainly have interest in K'Andre as a player from a Vancouver perspective, but i don't think his likely salary demands beyond this year are something that would fit very well into the Canucks cap structure and current salary commitments. I think that'd be a bit of a sticking point with quite a few teams that might otherwise be interested.

I think bubble or lower teams that have a hard time attracting UFA's would value him greatly, even at those numbers.

Which is good for NYR as the picks are higher per rd, for example a high 2nd isnt to far off from a low 1st, and those teams should have decent prospects to pick from as well.

But thats a, Rangers are out of it TDL move, or a summer draft day move.

It would help us more to find a player for player swap, but then again, our cupboard is bare from Drurys spending, this team is far from 1 player making a difference, and we have a HUGE damned if you do - damned if you dont decision to make on Shesterkin.

If Im Dolan, im considering if Drury survives this season and possibly selling off what i can and start another rebuild with Lafrenierre, Fox, Schneider, Kakko, and Trochek as the leadership core and take the best deals as they come for everyone else. Maybe even trade for Blackwood and run him with Quick and bounce Shesterkin for as much as humanly possible.

Miller & Kakko will most likely be used for a bigger defensive upgrade depending on who's made available in the next year or two. Rangers have one of the best RW prospects in the NHL, it's time to cut some of the fat off the team.
it is "time to cut some ... fat"
but KK is not fat
and
KAM should not be baby thrown out w/bathwater

Nope. 100% changed my tune on this player. I was singing his praises for a while now. I always wanted to see a more physical version of him, but its very rare for a player to develop those attributes. The rest of it i thought was enough for him to be a really good top 4 guy.
What happened? Curious how you would describe the timeline of his decline.

Trouba. And anybody who hurts his feelings by looking at him.

In all seriousness, I don't pretend to know what he goes through. He had to step away last season for mental health. His play is also much better when paired with Fox over Trouba, which everybody should have predicted. Expected goals % went from like 30% with Trouba to more than double with Fox.

I wouldn't say Miller makes one of the most mistakes through-out the entire league, but the issue is that when he makes a mistake you end up noticing it on the score board. A lot of players can get away with making mistakes because it's less noticeable than a 45 second scramble in your own end or a goal against. Give aways are a poorly tracked stat but for those that do care he's one of the lowest on the time. It's just that the giveaways, the pinching, and the brain fart moments lead to something that stands out when it's done.

Fans want him to be what he's not. A lot of us hoped he developed a mean streak. It's never happened and it never will. He's just not that type of player.

ANA looking at foundation possible D.
Want to keep McT + of course Carlsson while adding also good Ws
Zegras has issues but also overly shaded

5 for 5 is fair
KAM, Othmann, Lindgren, Vesey, Robertson
for
Zegras, Vatrano, Vaakanainen, Dumoulin, Helleson

Team is happy with zegras, don’t see him being moved.

Helleson has looked solid in his games up with the big club this year…. Should be a solid bottom pairing for us going forward.

Dumo has been great lined up with our young dmen…. But I do think he’ll be gone eventually.

Vatrano will be moved at some point, Vaaks too if helleson continues his play.

So build a package for Vatrano + dumo/Vaaks…. Woulda loved to grab kakko… but seems he’s found his game and prob not on the trade block anymore

Who is going to take Miller mid season and why

Maybe he can help a contender but that team would want to send back picks or prospects not impact roster players
Rebuilding teams would not want him as a corner piece item for an asset.
Maybe a team heavy on offensive talent and light on defense. Maybe oilers?

I just don’t see a return from any team that return roster assets

The Kings should show interest.. what about

Rangers: Gavrikov

Kings: Miller + Kakko
2 RFA's for a UFA that would be difficult to sign and probably at a price NYR couldn't afford, wouldn't be smart.

I factored that in but Gavrikov gives you a day in day out top 4 Dman for what I assume is a team with SC aspirations.. the cap is also projected to be in the mid $90m’s

Don’t know why we have these middle of season threads to trade our LHD. We need help at LHD. Not to trade what we already have. We aren’t getting anything productive for them right now. They need to up their play. Trading them away for futures or selling low on them for a player who probably isn’t as good isn’t going to help us. Rangers have big LHD problems to fix in the future if all of a sudden Miller and Lindgren aren’t part of the team next year.

Like almost catastrophically bad LHD that can’t be fixed that quickly. We have virtually nothing in the pipeline either. Jones as a 3rd pair and then no one else that can play NHL games.

I don’t even understand these proposed solutions. Sign some average player at UFA to an overpay who isn’t any better than them? That’s how you get the next Nemeth type of deal. You solve your problems, not trade them.
