Mancini has shown us that is a much better thinker already than Miller and he does not even know his own club yet let alone the opposition . Miller is clueless . I doubt he ever puts it together .

Mancini is not even close to the quality of player Miller is. Perhaps what he has shown us is that being a "better thinker" is not the only thing that matters.

I think Schneider is their second best defenseman, and it's not that close.

From the first few glimpses of Mancini handling the puck in the O zone I just have to think he does have that coolness & confidence in his game . That is stuff that is hard to teach at the pro level....you have it or you don't I think . Miller just might end up wanting too much money which I don't blame him for asking as he is still human and they might move him out.....although I doubt it happens and hopefully he settles in with a solid partner and has a decent Ranger career which is good for all of us /team . I don't see Mancini being a bottom tier guy for long in the scope of things .

I wasn't being literal, I'll rephrase to say they looked like guys that would be fixtures on the team for a long time but it never really clicked.

I have a growing concern for KEY. Remember last year when he needed some time for I believe it was called "mental health"?
From what I remember he's had rough "family life", and I can just sense there is something that is inhibiting his growth. He's still NOT at that age of where a dman is experienced and in his prime. Remember, he wasnt even initially a dman for the longest.
Anyway, I just feel k'Andre may want to be more offensive minded (considering the fact he was a winger, initially) and maybe there's a disconnect there with the responsibilities a dman has? Makes some poor judgement plays where thank God he has his physical gifts of speed and reach to make up for those gaffe's. Love KEY, but man, he's leaving ME/us wanting SO MUCH MORE.

It's an odd statement to say that D-men that play against the bottom 6 of a team and can catch their breath because they average less than 20 mins a game play so good, and then turn around and shit on the D-man that leads the D-core in average minutes played against the Top 6 of a team.

The defense under lavi is mostly man to man as opposed to zone i believe
Jones Schneider are the only ones capable of playing man to man decently

He is just a lazy player. If he wasn't lazy, he'd actually work to improve his game. he doesn't play defense and hit for a reason. He's too lazy to improve his game

That's why he looks like he's making spectacular defensive plays. He's always out of position and catching up with guys from behind.


He's a gutless player on so many levels, and he is going to ruin Fox.

Anyone who scouts the Rangers should pick up on the fact that Miller is completely unable to make any quality decisions with the puck on his stick. So he's always going to reverse to his partner whenever he is pressured or pass it to a teammate instead of taking a shot, even if they are in a worse postion than he is.

He's not a defenseman. I don't even know if he could be a forechecking forward. He won't hit. I don't know what he is. I say he's a taller, less physical Tom Poti.

He probably looks phenomenal in practice. All the testing probably looks great. If you could "wierd science build" a hockey player, I don't know if you give him better tools that he already has. But they're all for nothing when he gets in a game.

It's like he needs all the things they were looking for in the Wizard of Oz for himself. He has no courage, no heart, no brain, and he looks like a tornado swept him out of position when he's in his own zone.

He is not a foundational piece you build around. He's a bottom pair Dman on a good team. He can get you by against bottom 6 forwards but true 1st liners are going to eat his lunch every time because he doesn't have the brain to keep up with them or the will to outwork them.

They cannot afford to sign him to a big extension because he is not going to put it all together until he's about 30. You're going to pay alot of dues with him before you get to the payoff.

He's Brady Skjei 2.0. Every conceivable tool, yet always making wonder why he's not getting more out of them. Then he's going to give you one year when you can point and say "see? I told you he was good!"
And then, he will never do it again

Which means he's going to Carolina and Secure himself a huge free agent contract? Also remember when Skjei joined Carolina and started leveling Rangers and played shut down d?

I think the Rangers are hoping Miller returns on the teams faith in him. It just doesn't seem like reality.

I wonder if he has an individual skills coach. I stumbled on Braden Schneider going to a skills coach and getting iso video and skills to work on. Probably why he transitioned well to LD.

I think it's clear that whatever this coaching staff is teaching isn't getting through to key. He needs a system and disciplined and committed guys around him. Miller makes too many high risk decisions that would favor a more aggressive defensive team like Carolina.

The biggest issue with Miller is usage. Miller-Fox were one of the best pairs in the league for the short time they were allowed to play together; Miller and Trouba have never been good together, but we just keep running them back out, because we are determined to play Lindgren in the top4, and pairing him and Trouba would be a war crime.

Sure, Miller makes some bad plays, but the team has the puck a lot when he's part of a competent pairing.

A part of playing defense is mental and instinctive. I think KAM hesitates sometimes due to uncertainty. Sometimes that comes across as not trying. Its like a third baseman deciding to charge and short hop a ball. If he hesitates he ends up lost. Some guys have these instincts. Some can be taught to a small degree but some can not be taught. Some are a case of confidence if you are hot or not. I like Kam. I think his speed and reach are legit assets. I do think he will improve as he matures mentally.

No. From the moment Miller arrived, he has been treated like an established veteran and never once been held accountable or bumped down the lineup or benched. I made this point clear in my original post and you walked around it like an opposing forward does Miller like it's not the truth.
