I am going to start by saying I have been a huge critic of KAM. I am not his biggest fan, but realize that I am by far in the minority of people who feel this way.

That said, what is a comparable for his upcoming contract and can the Rangers make it work?

If they can't or decide to move on, what would be the return and who are the teams interested?

Do any of you think he gets targeted for an offer sheet?

1. If the Rangers listen to me, and are not stupid, so they keep the young core as much as possible, that means we could have a window open for a long time, like 5-7 years.
He stays and he is part of that.

2. After next season, that = just 1 + more season, Trouba + his 8m can be dealt and we can expect signif part of that recovered
And only 3 years after this season, bread's deal is up.
Bread not moving now/this season, but it is reasonable to think rather than look bad by being here when we are likely, due to cap, to not offer him anything, let alone a deal for a lot less, he will relent and waive for a place he approves before his deal is done.

So KAM + Chytil both know that long term, $$$ is not a prob. They just gotta work with us to navigate the above/

As to KAM deal, I am predicting max 5 yrs, pulled down by term to 5.8 or 6.2
He will still be young enough at that point to get something in the 10/+ ish range, if he keeps progressing

Rangers can’t afford to fit him on a long term deal.

$4m x 3 years is my guess.

I think it will be a short one - 2 years 3 or 4 million.
Devil's advocate: Why would he sign that? Offer sheet compensation for a deal up to 4,201,488 is a second round pick. Up to 6,302,230 is a First and a Third. If he's actually as good as everyone says, why wouldn't an opposing GM throw a 5M+ offer at him just to make Drury's life miserable? They could throw the same type of deal at Chytil and put the Rangers in a really bad spot.

They'd be crazy not to. Miller's value isn't in the here and now since he's still quite early in his development, but his potential is out of this world. The fact that he's continuing to take steps forward and improve on a very sharp curve means it's more likely he'll get there.

I would be shocked if he signed a bridge around 4AAV. He’s absolutely worth more than that and I’m sure there are teams out there that would offer sheet higher since the compensation is not much. Really good young player.

Peop,e don’t do offer sheets because revenge will be done snd it hurts your rep in GM world.

signingnhim for something costs a 2nd the rangers woukd match.

i see the Rangers resigning him to a 3 yr $5M bridge and Schneider to a 2 yr bridge. Then Troubas cap hit ending would go to their long contracts.

Key should get a long term deal. 5-6 years at 5-6 million. I'd love to see 5x5 but he probably will cost more.

Rangers could only sign one of their 3 big RFAs this offseason to a long term extension, and if they do they will be forced to bridge the other two. Key should be that guy.

These players are deserving of offer sheets. It may very well happen.

I could be mistaken on how good he is but from the outside watching he seems like a player I'd be comfortable paying $8.4m x 8. That's the highest you can go in an offer sheet without paying multiple 1sts. So I hope my team offers him that this summer.

That's a fair point. I just figure as a Flyers fan who wants the Rangers to have really big contracts that will hinder them long term, it won't happen.

Instead, I can look forward to the Flyers thinking they can make a run at the playoffs and sign JVR to a 5 year 5 million$ contract because that is the Flyers way!
