Yeah, the guy's a Selke winner.
So... If he has better numbers defensively than his linemates? And they do a lot worse in that aspect when not playing with him? Then what does that tell you buddy?

Since Panarin signed with the Rangers, seven players in the NHL have more even strength points.

That comment just shows you're not informed enough on the subject to have this discussion.
Yeha, has he been good this year?
And if that is the case? Why didn't they give him the opportunity to play with Ziba and Panarin in the PP for a year. It's not like they were big contenders for many years.

Pretty much. Kakko is so bad he's lost that job to "ah well, let's just try anything else."
Whatever you say. If anything Rangers were fools to not just stick him around top6 and first PP then. Why? Because they sure hell didn't help him to develop and for their own sakes? They didn't find anything that was a a lot better and while trying they sank his status a whole lot. So at the of the day? What does that tell you Einstein?

Like, do you guys want him?

I'll f***in Uber him to your team's arena myself.
Yeah, you are clearly unbiased after writing this. No black or white perspective here whatsoever...

But honestly, do that please. Drive him to the Canes with Aho, Panthers with Lundell, Flyers with Michkov or actually?! Why not even the Devils! I'd love to see him wing Jack Hughes and make you eat your shorts. But I guess you wouldn't do that because it seems you genuinely don't wanna see him succeed anywhere.

I still like Kakko. I am pretty sure he could be a good player somewhere else with less pressure. Like in Utah or Columbus or maybe even New Jersey. Put him with Jack Hughes and Brett and he could do well.

TBF, Vlasic is like, really good.
I know he is.

I'm using that as an example of something Kakko does like ten times a game because it's hard to capture, and I'm glad Vlasic is so good that somebody had an iso on him and caught it.

Skate the puck down the boards, avoid the middle like the plague, lose the puck. He is the Wayne Gretzky of subtle turnovers.

I understand what people mean when they say he's "solid" (although, he's not this huge plus defensively that he's made out to be). He can go out there and nothing egregiously bad will happen. So people see that and they're like if "I can fix this one thing" or "if he only got a real shot" (he's had them!)

Like, no. That one thing is that he's one of the easiest players to defend in the league. He doesn't have the skill, he doesn't have the will, and he doesn't have the IQ. Nobody will ever get more out of him offensively.

I feel like several teams would be willing to take a swing for a late 2nd but who knows
If clubs were offering a second for Kakko I think he’d already be traded. Likely the offers are other teams’ struggling players. So more of a swap to change scenery, and not really draft capital.

I would take a shot on him for the Ducks. No way am Im paying that though.

I suspect if teams were willing to pay that he would have been traded already.

Kakko and a 5th for Vatrano

Ducks aren't competing at any point under Vatrano contract
I think the Ducks get more for Vatrano as a rental then I would be willing to pay for Kakko. Especially if he starts getting some bounces.

He could be useful in a very particular role.

If you have a team or line that gets a lot of its offense from cycling on the boards, and there’s already a designated shooter, Kakko can be your third guy.

But he doesn’t have great passing, vision, skating, shooting. He’s pretty good along the boards, and has good balance on his skates. His gap control defensively is above average as is his stick defensively. But he’s a complimentary player on a cycling 2nd line, or a decent third liner on a checking unit. If you ignore the draft position that means he’s worth something, for sure, but not a big haul.

What are you talking about? Kakko had every chance in the world to show he belonged in the top 6. Ultimately he sucked when given the opportunity.

Kakko is simply nothing more than a 3rd/4th line player. He is good defensively and that is the extent of it. He is a bad skater, softer than dog s***, and never takes responsibility. Its his 6th year and he has made zero progress
