Lol. Kakko doesn't owe Rangers a sh*t anymore. They've handled him pretty shitty during the years. Not even close. Never did they give him honest chances during these last months or even last year. He's better than some of Rangers top6 wingers with ease. Especially at 5v5.
He started in the top six in 2022, 2023, and 2024 and lost that job all three times.

This entire thread

"I can fix her"
i dont actually think he is broken, more so the coaching staff believes others have passed him by. At the same time i dont think he is a top line forward but will end up being a 40-50 point forward. Rangers have a good job themselves bringing his value down but sometimes gm's get drunk (see trouba trade)

Absolutely shocked people aren't offering a haul for your 30 point bottom six forward coming off a healthy scratch because he was a high draft pick half a decade ago.
Drafted 5 years ago, already has a 40 point season and on pace for 38 this year. You can stop making stuff up now.

The thing is, no one actually took the job from him either and held on it. That's why the #1RW has been a revolving door with the NYR since Buchnevich left.

And the thing is, that "anything else" hasn't worked either because Mika and Kreider suck ass. Turns out, it's not the RW that's the problem
That's true, but Kakko also just sucks.

He's on a completely new line this year and it led to a healthy scratch, while his linemates were promoted to the 1st line.

This isn't evidence that they handled him properly though. "Losing your job" can be a completely subjective. Our coach for instance, made Kucherov play his entire rookie season on the fourth line.

Two things can be true at the same time: Rangers didn't handle his development properly, and in a larger picture that also extends to Lafreniere and some other prospects.

And it can also be said that Kakko definitely did get an opportunity in the top-6, multiple times. Couldn't seize the opportunity. That's on him.

I feel kinda bad for the kid. However, he has hands of stone, good along the boards, decent passer, however, he’s been terrible lately with his defensive coverage.

You're taking issue with describing someone who's hit exactly 40 once in their career, three years ago, as a "30 point player"? He was on pace for 25 last year.

Sorry, I didn't intend to mislead as to Kakko's incredible scoring prowess.

Call him what you want. Doesn't change the fact that you are wrong.

Kakko has more 5vs5 points than Zibanejad & Kreider. He has almost 0pp and is averaging 13.17min/gp on the 3rd line. Second best +/- on the team. I`m confident he would fetch atleast a low 1st.
Plus/minus has long considered an overrated stat, and 5vs5 is the new +/-. We are one day removed from Patrik Laine having a zero 5vs5 point, -1 game, yet people still seemed pleased with his performance. Kakko is gone immediately if the Rangers are lucky enough to receive an offer of a low 1st-round pick.

Has more primary assists on even strength /60 than Kucherov while being very solid defensively. But yeah, sucks.

3.1 EV goals for and 1.6 against /60 on a team that keeps losing. That's a net positive of +1.5 goals per three periods of even-strength hockey.
He's not the one driving that.

It was Will Cuylle shooting well over 20% which is already starting to normalize.

Cuylle while one of the better players in team has still been on ice for almost a full EV goal more /60 (Cuylle 2.5 vs. Kakko 1.6).

Yeah, the guy's a Selke winner.

Did he get to play PP1 during the years to boost his confidence etc? Or even this year? It's not like Panarin nor Zibanejad and others produce that much on 5v5 anymore? They could've thought longterm and give players that actually can bring the franchise forward some real opportunities to grow and develop. You don't draft a player so early and handle him like that. Montreal handles Slafkovsky a lot better for an example and he's not been any better than Kakko ever was. But that argument is not even needed to make my point.
Also? Ever heard about consistency? Give a youngster time and work together with him, not against him. Yeah whatever, keep convincing yourself I really don't give a sh*t.

Last but not least, let's see when he gets good line mates like he had now with Cuylle and Chytil but in another franchise and perhaps some PP time. Because he's been more than good with them and he sure h'll is a contributing factor.
I'm actually more convinced he'll be good than fail somewhere else.

He's not that good at defense. That's something Rangers fans made up high on copium.
Lol. You are just full of it. Let's see how he does in the 4 nations against the best will we? And if his numbers happened only because of Cuylle carrying him.

Since Panarin signed with the Rangers, seven players in the NHL have more even strength points.

That comment just shows you're not informed enough on the subject to have this discussion.
