Could see a team with multiple 1st round picks dangle the lowest of the bunch for him. Maybe Chicago thinks they can jumpstart him with Bedard?
For Toronto's 1st in a weaker draft?

Or

A similar defense prospect in terms of falling draft stock but one really good season and under 24 years old and RFA control.

Would wager that based on what he did in the media, greater than three quarters of the league’s GMs wouldn’t bother picking him up on waivers. Especially hard to look the other way when all you get for the risk of taking what is now a toxic player is someone who’s a bottom six guy at best.

Certainly the NYR front office seems every bit a toxic environment themselves but this is beyond the pale. Anyone can credit the validity of what he said but the issue at hand is why give someone of his ilk that second chance and have him turn around and air your team’s opportunities or throw what are supposed to be his teammates under the bus.

Someone will take a shot at him but it certainly won’t be a quality GM.

Land of no calls..
If he gets moved I'd expect either a player of a similar pedigree who is also struggling in return or he'll be lumped in with some other assets to add a better player.

Looking forward to watching him reach his potential with a new team. Should be fun. :sarcasm:

Kakko is either going to Edmonton or the Ducks

The Ducks had been giving Brett Leason a shot playing RW with Carlsson, being a big body who is pretty responsible and shows little flashes of skill. It didn't work out because Leason doesn't make enough impact, but Kakko should be a notably better version of a similar player. The Ducks are also dreadfully bad at faceoffs, Kakko seems to be good in that area and could help prop up one of the young centers.

Kakko and a 5th for Vatrano

Ducks aren't competing at any point under Vatrano contract

No one argue with that, with Vatrano only being under contract through this season.

I hesitate to sell him off for just picks, given the Ducks lack of quality veteran forwards - but absolutely on board with trading him for a younger veteran as you've proposed. Honestly don't think the Rangers need to add anything

What would rangers fans want in a deal with Calgary. Like are they looking for futures or immediate help

Lol. Kakko doesn't owe Rangers a sh*t anymore. They've handled him pretty shitty during the years. Not even close. Never did they give him honest chances during these last months or even last year. He's better than some of Rangers top6 wingers with ease. Especially at 5v5.
