If Kakko's game against the Canadiens was his only game this season, he would be 2nd on the Islanders in points.
It was well known he was both.
Always thought he just had celiac disease not type 1 as well. Maybe i missed that. Either way hes off to a good start.

If you look at the player stats, you couldn't ask for a better production distribution from the forwards.
That 3rd line is clicking and notice how there is only 1 defenseman in the top 10, as it should be. In years past the top 10 was filled with a few D like Miller & Trouba with and a surprise depth forward but 3rd liners like Kakko way down and not just trickling in with 1 or 2 points.
It’s great to see Reilly Smith up there as well. Thats a huge pickup and it’s working out.
looking at just production over such a small sample size is dubious. the team, and kakko, looks great though.View attachment 920793

I'm encouraged at how much more resilient Chytil has seemed this season. Seems less susceptible, stronger, tougher. Hope it continues. For sure, its early and things need to continue.
The key here is the health of Chytil. Even with the maturation of players like Kakko and Cuylle they are limited if they have a center like Brodzinski in the middle of them. Chytil is the key to providing some serious forward depth and its already paying dividends.

A healthy Chytil is a top 6 center. He was to start last season too. He should be able to devour the level of competition he is getting. For sure, its early and things need to continue.

With 2 points taken away from reviewsKakko now 6 points in the first 7 games
Brodz>MikaHe's basically on the 2nd line right now.
Panarin line is 1st, Chytil 2nd, then the Mika line.
He's still not 100% doing what he's capable of from an individual effort perspective imo but he's making up for it by being way more aggressive and heavy on the forecheck. Him and Cuylle are a real handful on the walls and in tight spaces.
He earned that assist last night. Drove the play and Cuylle cashed in.
The only thing I can see holding KK back now is himself- he needs only to make the mental adjustment
Let’s see what happens in a larger sample size than 9 games, but yes this was the message I was forced to scream all off season. The puck is on Kakko’s stick A LOT. He’s already a solid middle six winger, plays 200ft. He’ll never be a great straight line skater but his edges and ability in tight space especially in the O zone and below the hashes is impressive. Still not sure if it translates to goals, but the points should keep coming if continues to have the puck what seems like all the f’n time.
This. 5 years/4m. While we can still get him cheaplySign Kakko now.
