This was around 40 years ago so take what I say with a grain of salt. I believe Cam was a big scorer in juniors and a high draft choice. He was a bit of a disappointment in Vancouver. Barry Pederson was a huge scorer in Boston. When the trade was made I was surprised Boston would trade Pederson. Pederson had some sort of injury but I do not remember what it was. Vancouver even threw in a first round draft choice. I thought of Cam as a hitter/fighter 3rd line type guy in Vancouver but since he was playing in Vancouver I only saw him play a few times. Cam was a surprise scorer soon after joining Boston. The better Cam did the worse Pederson seemed to do. I'm not sure what happened to Pederson. I know he had the injury but it seemed like his career went down more than I would have expected.
Per Wiki Pederson had a tumor in his shoulder and a few surgeries.

Sometimes big dudes go to other teams and start scoring later. Graves was a role player and then he came to the Rangers and had 7-8 great years. John Leclair reached his potential in Philly. Knuble had a few stops.

I hope Kakko is skating round the clock somewhere in Turku.

I thought I remembered Pederson had a shoulder injury but the weird thing is like some other guys he was still a good scorer when he first came back but then dropped off the map. Maybe that was because he had further surgeries that I was not aware of at that time. This was before the internet so information was not everywhere like it is today.

KK becoming a great RW would mean so much to himself, the team and the fans. I kind of wish KK would stay with Laf this summer and each guy push the other in training and skating 3-5 days a week.

Are we really comparing Will Cuylle to Cam Neely? Talk about setting a guy up for disappointment. I think a 20 goal scoring middle six winger would be a huge success. Thank god we got something useful for Lias Andersson.

Cuylle > Kakko

A coach did early in the season. I thought it was silly.

Anyone know what KK is up to?

Where is KK training?
The Olympics have so many sports that are similar to hockey. He should think about changing sports for a shot at glory in, say, handball or field hockey or water polo. These all involve trying to get a ball into a net without the nuisance of skating.

Meanie! All kidding aside sometimes playing another sport can be good for a guy mentally in the offseason.

I saw Rempe is training. My hope is that Laf, KK and all our other younger guys come in to camp after a strong offseason. Its August. Season is getting closer. Music to my ears will the coaches saying KK and Laf are in the best shape of their lives in a month.

I just turned to water polo, US vs Australia. Guess who's announcing the match? Kenny Albert. That's a sign that water polo is similar enough to hockey that Kenny can call it. If Kenny can call it, Kakko can play it.

Kakko would need to be 6 ft 4 inches, 240 pounds, and be able to bench 350 pounds which is highly unlikely

I used to love the Olympics but I have not watched in years. IF you see KK playing let us know. I will watch. :)

Still would like to know what KK, Laf and our other young players are doing this summer but I guess nobody knows. :(

They could literally be tuned into this water polo match right now.

There's also power plays in water polo. No sign of Kakko, so that checks out.

Aussies and Americans 7-7 tie at the end of regulation, going to a shootout!

Edit: US wins in the shootout, they're in the semifinals, and they also picked up the extra point in the standings.

I really shook my head when a coach mentioned Will with Cam Neely. Cam was one of the best power forwards I have seen. Crazy to put that out there. I don't know what to expect from Will. His size, speed, shot, and toughness give me a lot of hope but will that ever add up to more than a 3rd liner? He has a lot of tools. Would be great if his offensive upside becomes more than 15-20 goals and 30-40 points. I think its possible because as he gets stronger its possible that shot gets even harder.
Will Cuylle is the type of player the Rangers would have for his growing years only to blossom on another team.

Well Cam Neelys only come around around once every 10-20 years so if Will can be another Cam I will keep him! :D

I learned from watching the Olympics that in volleyball there is a defensive-specialist position called the libero. The libero cannot participate in offensive attacks and also wears a different-color uniform than the rest of his teammates. Maybe Kakko should invent the libero position for ice hockey, absolving himself of offensive responsibilities.

I spoke with KK.

KK thinks you are too obsessed with the Olympics lol. :D

I know some people are disappointed in KK's last season. I am one of them BUT here is how I'm choosing to look at things. We have had a very quiet offseason We know what we have in our vets. They have been dependable but are aging. The only place we can really improve is with guys like KK. So I'm giving KK a fresh slate to begin our next season. I'm looking at KK as a new young player and hoping he will be our new exciting scoring forward. Unlikely? Yes but hope is free and where else are we going to get growth other than guys like KK and Will?

Yeah I think that the vets will vet in a run-it-back situation, and I personally challenge guys like Kakko and Cuylle to step up and take it to the next level this coming season. Whether the team goes deep again or even wins it all, the kids' progression will convince the front office to turn over the roster and start building the next core.

I think Drury was ready and willing to make some changes after our playoff loss but was a bit handcuffed by the trade market. I think he is willing to make a big move including some big name vets if the right return is out there but not a "rebuild" more like a Tkachuk type trade.

Honestly, I don't think it's about physical workouts and training for Kakko.

It's about what's between the ears.

He needs to buy a sports car, drive 200 miles per hour on a closed off track, make out with a supermodel, find the kid that took his lunch when he was 7 and kick the shit out of him, and return to training camp with his f***ing balls hanging where they're supposed to be and a renewed desire to take the puck to the net and personally f*** up anybody who stands in his way.

If he can't do that, no amount of training is ever gonna make him anything more than a tweener 2nd/3rd liner.

Just being honest.
