And 1 point called back for a toe nail not clipped enough to stop the offside. He's playing better and a lot has to do with Chytil just providing that 3rd line some solid opportunities. It's good to see but we have also played Penguins, Wings x2, and Montreal. Hopefully that line can keep it up.

All jokes aside I've been super high on Kakko for ages but I'm starting to lose patience.

If Kakko finally pulls it together, they arent trading him. Plenty of other things to do to fit him. It’s not like he would be getting anywhere near 6M anyway unless he scores 65 points.

Rangers have to pay Shesterkin, Lafreniere, Miller, Cuylle all before Kakko. The only big chunks of cap for sure leaving are Smith Lindgren. Kakko is a cap casulty

They can all fit under the cap. Miller isnt playing like a 6M defenseman, and Cuylle will get a bridge deal.

Big brain move would be to sell high on Kreider in the offseason and refill the pipeline with some defensemen (obv i’d rather trade other vets over him but he has a team friendly contract and only a 10 team NTC in July)

I don't see why a team would give up a first for him when they could potentially draft and develop a better player without giving up anything.

Kaapo being held on to this long when he needed to be moved sooner is unfortunate but his draft position means very little in actual value to others at this point whereas it just means more for the rangers and the ego attached to it.

In 5 seasons since his draft the best he's done is 18 goals and 40pts and has failed to reach at least 20pts in 3 of those seasons.

What Jesse Puljujarvi went for to Carolina is what the value likely is and Jesse is similar in production to a player like Kaapo.

There have been bottom 6 players that got overpayments and by some good organizations (Tampa for example). Kakko is not who we thought we drafted but he's still a good third liner and that plus his draft position should get a decent return for him.

This… 3rd line tweeners don’t garner a ton of value.
Kakko isn’t overpaid and is playing on a line that’s playing really well.
He still has untapped potential. The only reason to move him is if he demands a trade and wants a bigger opportunity from a less successful club in order to try and cash in……
NYR should keep him and deal with the situation at the end of the year.
Kakko-Chytil-Cuylle is a damn good young line with a lot of experience for being their age…. Stay the course.
Pray chytil stays healthy and both wingers keep developing and producing….
Cuylle is the real diamond here. The fact they got the pick to draft him for Lias anderssson was a miracle…..
Kid is a bit under the radar now, but in 2-3 years he’s going to turn some heads. He’s got a real bright future. Throwback old school big physical winger that can score and do the little things. A dying breed.

at some point you’re no longer snake bitten and you’re just not very good.

He’s an okay 3rd line player or a good 4th. That’s it.
