No one is blaming him. Why so defensive? They said he sucks. They didn’t say the team sucking his fault. Just that he sucks too.

Dude, just stop it. Kakko has been gliding around the ice listlessly all night. I get that you like him, but this is so silly. The Rangers would've had an odd man rush earlier in the game had he bothered to skate to the bench. Instead, he glided over to it without a care in the world.

His ass should be stapled to the f***ing bench right now. 7 seconds is too much ice time for him. Doesn't even deserve 5 seconds.

There's a huge difference. Kakko looks like he doesn't give a f*** at all.

Said it in a previous thread, kakko is trending to look like an arc like nischukin where his early offense doesn't add up to his draft position and he becomes a complimentary elite 2 way forward but not a star. He is three years in and we can make all the excuses we want but he doesn't have a good let alone elite shot, his skating is meh good but not elite, his physicality is erratic where he can play a protection game at times when he has the puck but he is a cupcake when it comes to puck retrievals and board battles, and he absolutely seems incredibly sensitive to criticism and failure. I understand he's young but all these players coming into the league are young. If kakko weren't drafted 2oa would he be getting the Barrett hayton treatment playing long spurts in the ahl? What has he shown to establish himself as a regular NHL player? Without his draft position is he even here right now? And I don't want to hear shit about pp opportunity or whatever else. Lesser players have done more with less opportunity. We need to see something shift here with this kid. I'm embarrassed that this fanbase hoped and chanted for kakko over Hughes, what a bunch of idiots in retrospect

Yeah, he’s not trending in the right direction right now. It’s disheartening because he was really the start of the rebuild, but he’s just not shown a whole lot. I still think he winds up being a quality player, but he’s just not living up to his draft position.

All you have to do is compare Laf's and Kap's level of play.

This isn't a kakko issue either, this is a kakko, kravtsov, Anderson issue. Thankfully laf has taken some massive steps over the past 2+ months and isn't going to get dragged into that group, but those three are proven/trending to complete disappointment for what they should or could have been
 
Fun fact: Our 3 changed lines by the coach, all had worse numbers analytically than line 4. So did the normal line 1. Reaves Rooney Kakko was still an obvious disaster from the beginning. I'd rather Kakko sit than waste away there. Put in Hunt. He should already be in for Reaves who literally does nothing.

His gliding around doing nothing tonight was a huge problem for a number of us (myself included).

Some people just seem to be actively rooting against him, and although Kakko does do some things really well, he hasn’t shown that “wow factor” that Laf or even other players from his draft class have shown.

I still think he winds up a good player, and I don’t think this franchise did him any favors in his first 2 years, but he’s just not shown anything to live up to his draft position.
