Holy f***

Forget everything I said in previous threads about player values. Drury is a f***ing disgrace and literally giving everything away for scraps.

I thought he would learn from the Buch trade but I guess not. f*** this guy.
I also think it's a shit return, but if that's all he got, it also means no one was offering more... so either they think Kakko ill be no more than a 3rd liner, or they think he might be problematic.

Is this really because of what he said in reaction to being scratched?

I don't think he crossed the line with those comments, seems like an overreaction.
No.

Drury for whatever reason thinks the best way of taking us to the next level is by dismantling a team that won the president’s trophy. His actions over the last few months are exactly the opposite of what you’d want from a GM even if the players he has got rid of aren’t great. He has destroyed all leadership in the room, he has made the players feel totally lacking in value and he has sent our season spiralling into pure shit.

Fortunately for him this has led to the fans hating on the same players who were playing far above their level last season (and in some cases for many years) because they are ‘selfish millionaires’ 🤦.
So Drury’s wet dream of replacing everyone with Patrick Nemeth and Sammy Blais level players might just play out.

Kakko is just ok. I won’t miss him much, but won’t be surprised if he is good in Seattle.

Kakko's career high points in a season after playing 330 games is 40 with the 2nd highest being 23 - he is being overrated like crazy around these parts clearly.

Would have easily, easily beat this price for Kakko for him to produce what he's doing on our third line. Not every team is desperate for offense.

Any player that hits automatically becomes 5x more valuable in Drury's eyes.

Awful, but isn't as awful as the Buchnevich trade.

Borgen is 4 years older than Kakko and makes 300k more than Kakko. His max is 25 points in 82 games. He's UFA at the end of the season.
I don't really understand this trade from NYR's perspective.

Edit - didn't realize Borgen was D.

The Rangers traded a 3rd line player for a 3rd round pick.

Not great return. The only way this would make any sense is if NyR plans to move a D like Lindgren for forward help. Otherwise it’s horrible again from Drury.,,

They traded him because he had the gall to speak up about how he was being treated rather than anything to do with team fit. Guarantee it.

Seattle knew this and thus were able to get him for pennies. No other reason why Kakko, despite underachieving goes so low.
