Teams have to respect his shot which allows our skill guys more freedom.

Best PP QB we’ve had in a while.
He can shoot, pass, and move, and do all of them very well. Other PP quarterbacks we've tried in recent years have been able to do one or two of the three very well or even great, but not all three. PKs can't predict him easily because he has so many different options he can execute on well.

Is it possible nerd Tulsky and Borg cohorts actually knew what they were doing putting this roster together?

UFA departures of the magnitude that the Canes brass are comfortable dealing with are beyond scary to most front offices, let alone fans.

partially. They got lucky Blake was ready.

The other half of it is, if the goalies aren’t complete ass, Rod’s teams are going to win more than they lose. Period.

That wasn't luck. They traded down in the draft for years in order to accumulate young winger prospects in the 2nd round and below and finally farmed one in.

We had three or four forwards we were looking at as essentially NHL ready in camp and were going to pick the best one. It wound up being Blake, but it could have just as easily been Suzuki, FUS, or Nadeau, and Nadeau is who they were expecting to take the spot. But Blake won it, in part because they decided to convert FUS to a center in the AHL because they thought even more highly of FUS than Blake.

Luck is preparation plus opportunity. Having 4 well developed prospects, any of whom could easily be a competent NHLer right now, is not random. It's long term drafting and development moves ultimately meeting the needs of the team. Now we're doing the letting NHL ready players get overripe in the AHL thing that the most successful teams were always famous for doing. Feels good, man.

Seattle intermission crew showing how kraken changed their PK approach and are mostly using a diamond versus the box.

Canes need to adjust and work more down low.
