I'm not necessarily saying he's worth it, but we don't half over-rate first round picks on this board, most of all late round ones like the Leafs will probably have this year.

I don't even even think he's a 2nd, remember teams were asking for a 1st round pick just to take him last summer
It's gamesmanship. For Philly they obviously balked at moving jvr and this year's first for gudreau because they are thinking longer term and in the off season it was about cap and not the player
Mid season the flyers can retain salary so he only gets like 2 million real dollars and have ltir space to absorb whatever comes back.
So if you are like most teams and looking to add for a playoff push there's a ton of flexibility for teams who are also close to the cap.
The leverage has shifted completely back to Philly. Jvr brings size scoring and experience and I think he's probably the second option for a lot of teams but those first options are going to require a bigger commitment and comparable return

He is not what Toronto needs. Yes, they need a second line LW but it needs to be a gritty player that is hard to play against and fits well into Toronto’s defensive system. Hard pass.

I actually think it'll happen mainly because I don't think Toronto has good management.

Clearly, the Flyers have even worse management, but I can see this happening for some reason.
