I've been a JVR fan since he was a Maple Leaf. He's such a consistent guy who knows his role really well. Always wanted the Leafs to bring him back. Glad he's having a good year with CBJ.

This is another great example of how hockey players are built differently. Basketball players get carried off the court because they twist an ankle or have some muscle twitches. Hockey players pretend they're not hurt when they're losing teeth and getting stitches.

Did you even bother to read the tweet?

30+ stitches, 4 teeth knocked out, a bone graft, root canals, and a tooth stitched/sewed inside his lip. Bit more than just stitches like you implied.
Yes

I have a root canal to do this Thursday, but I'm not going to claim to be tough.

Good for JVR. I like him, but tough is not how I would describe his style or his career.

You picked out one of the procedures that he had done, so that's a false equivalence. I'd also imagine that you aren't going to play a hockey game immediately following your root canal and then another game the next day. But yeah, totally the same.

No. He's not tough at all. It's not the same. But stay grounded here. You are trying to win something that can't be won.

Are you old enough to remember Rick Tocchet's career? Or Gary Roberts? Rod Brindamour? Scott Stevens? They were tough and it wasn't always about face punching either.

I'm sorry, but the last player I would describe as tough is JVR. Good for him for playing through all that, but he's not really tough. Sorry.
