Justin Williams Contract Extension Discussion

In Dean I Trust.

But if it comes down to Williams vs Stoll I'd think we'd keep Williams. The Kings have Andy, Shore, Weal, and Kempe (down the line) who are all capable of taking Stoll's spot. Williams would bridge the gap while guys like Prohorkins (sp) and Zykov develop

That being said I think getting Toffoli and Pearson extensions should be priority #1, although I'm not sure if Dean can start negotiating with either.
He can, they are in the final year of their current deals.

The Kings had Brown on a very team friendly deal before this one. For what he's done for this team, he deserves every penny of his new deal.
I disagree though. His first ''team friendly'' deal like you call it (disagree too, if you look at the contracts back then) should not be a reason to hand out a ridiculously bad contract, just to make up for that.

I read that stuff more often.

I agree. Some people can be a hard ass and say he isn't worth his cap hit, and from a talent perspective they are right, but the Kings finally needed to reward a very good soldier.

Other players within the organization see that and must think to themselves, "Doing it the Dustin Brown way might be a pretty good idea." Hopefully that kind of thing works with guys like Toffoli and Pearson.

I certainly don't think Muzzin broke the bank. If he had sat back and waited to sign in the off season, and has a season this year similar to his last one, he would have commanded over the $4M he received from the Kings.

Williams isnt going anywhere.

He knows it, his agent knows it, DL knows it.

4 years, $4M/year, make it so.

Stoll on the other hand, wont be back.

I think Stoll is the odd man out. The only way I see Williams not brought back is if 1) he wants top dollar (a la Willie Mitchell) and/or 2) Toffoli has a ridiculous year and good playoffs.

Given what Williams signed for last time, I think he'll be back at a reasonable number. I agree with the poster above me. $4M for 4 years sounds about right.

Marting Jones will be ecstatic with that $55,000 increase on his new contract...But not as happy as Nolan with a bump up of $35,000

Just trying to show how difficult it will be to get them all in. Stoll is out. Williams, Pearson, Toffoli and Martinez get the contracts that has been discussed in threads here. Clifford only got the lowest raise he can get with the Kings.

And the next year Kopitar is up.

Unless they trade Richards I don't think they can resign Williams. Zykov, or Prokhorkin should get a shot to replace Williams. If they can't find a way to bring him back, he'll be a huge loss in the playoffs. Williams and Stoll are great leaders for this team.
