My point again is, when a guy plays with two top 6 forwards, and 2nd line PP minutes and has 9 goals, well, big deal. I think you could put almost anyone with some sort of offensive acumen there and they do the same. I like Braz's big bod and his penchant for going to the net. Skates better than given credit for IMO as well
Het, I am not a Braz fan either....too slow.

He's a better version of Coyle at 10% of the salary. Not really my type of guy for todays NHL and I prefer him on the 4th line but appreciate the contributions. If him and the Geek are taking extensions that don't come with big raises what are we waiting for.

Coyle/Carlo/Freddy all need to go they are hurting the team and that 12 mil cap space can be much better used.

Given his history with UFA signings do you really think Sweeney would use that $12 million wisely??? I don’t.

I think Lindholm and Zad are better than the current deadwood and wouldn't mind a couple of the most coveted FAs. Would be nice to get Poitras full time as 3C.

Not sure why anyone following closely would make excuses for Coyle or Carlo at this point. They've been here too long and like Gryz or DeBrusk need new laundry for their own good as well.

I'm a big Brazzeau guy. But have you noticed Freddy out there on the PP doing absolutely nothing aside from losing possession of the puck?

Brazzeau makes many good plays per game. Freddy hasn't been doing a whole lot. He has looked a lot better with Brazzeau on his line though.
Forwards PP production/60 on our club this year

1. Brazeau 4.62
2. Geekie 4.35
3. Frederic 3.75
4. Marchand 3.31
5. Pastrnak 3.04

If you look at goals/60 on the PP Brazeau is lapping the field.

I was going to say Sergei Samsonov.

But Charlie Coyle works too.

Which literally proves the point I've been making here. If this is the best you have, it's no wonder your PP sucks because he's an unskilled bottom 6 player.

He’s also making league min and 5th on the team in points

Brazeau is the least of this teams concerns imo

looking this up today, I found some evidence that I’m on the right track with keeping Brazeau’s role streamlined and limited.

I organized his game log this season by time on ice and split it right down the middle.

When he plays 13:43 or more (half of his games), he has 3 goals/6 points. That’s a (rounded) 14 goal/27 point pace.

When he plays 13:13 or less (the other half), he has 6 goals/11 points. That’s a 26 goal/47 point pace.

Small sample size, but shows the kind of value he can show on a bottom six role. I think we get a great deal from an unusually productive player with my 3yr/$7M ($2.3M/yr) offer.

Nope I'm saying he's good on the PP

His career average for us PPP/60 is right in there with the averages for guys like Bergeron and Krejci.

To me his game is JVRish.
Being better than others that are all collectively not very good doesn't make you "good on the powerplay". It makes you less crappy than the options they have, I guess. But even then, do you really want Brazzers out there over a guy like Pasta, even if he's having a down season? Seems like a grasp, IMO.

Which goes back to my point all along. Fun story, great to see him have a little success. But still more of an indictment on the GM and the piss poor job he's done leaving this roster epically short on top 6 talent.

I'm not sure why that's so hard for you to admit.

He's been good even when compared to guys who are good.

Again his PPP/60 is right in line with what Bergeron and Krejci did here over the last 10 years.

So you're saying he should be a top line player getting nearly 20 minutes a night and first unit PP and the majority of PPTOI?

That's what you thought he was saying?

Can't even find that conclusion between the lines.

Is he a top 6 player in your opinion?

Only if he has to be.

I do think he's a first unit power play player.

It’s a funny thing. I feel like he is a solid 3rd line guy who can be used on the pp. but he really can score. Like a lower end 2nd line player potentially. His speed is the only thing that prevents me from calling him a top six player. He has decent hands and uses his size really well. He also has a scoring touch and sometimes drops a nice pass that creates a scoring chance.

Hell baby
I think if he’s getting top 6 minutes your team is offensively challenged

Don’t mind him on PP1 though, he’s got very good hands for his size and he’s gotta be a mf for a goalie to see around

Neither are Geekie or Coyle but look where they play.

Brazeau to me is great in the bottom six getting a spot on the top PP unit. Thought he looked fine playing with Lindholm/Marchy for a bit there. Not like Coyle has done anything special replacing him in that role.

Again, made so many good possession plays last night to get the puck to open guys instead of everyone else trying to pass 40feet across the ice through 3 guys when there's a better play to be made.

IMO the Freddy/Wahlstrom/Brazeau line was the most consistent line last night. Even when Sacco "Loaded up" that first line

In an ideal world Braz is on your 3rd line and I actually like him on the 1st pp unit as a net front guy. Play him to his strengths
