Player Discussion Justin Brazeau

A bigger forward that isn’t a killer out there, but actually uses the size advantage quite well.

On a roster that has been full of gentle giants for too long, this is a very nice change of pace

the one thing that's impressed me with braz has been his playmaking ability. he sees the ice pretty well. has had
a couple of great passes lately along with his willingness to go right to the paint. bruins get a ton of crap for their
inability to draft and develop higher end talent, but they are excellent with these depth type guys.

hope they sign JB soon. i think a while back i had mentioned 4 years/8M as a fair deal. guess we'll see how it
plays out.

2M per? Think his agent needs to be driven to the train station if that happens (you Yellowstone fans).

I'd be thinking quite a bit more. You're basically offering what Freddy and Geekie got before under the old cap number. I think he's coming in over 3. And I think at age 26, I'd like him more than 4 years.

I'd be willing to extend him on a 3-4-5 year deal for the right number. His reach at 31 or 32 won't be any less than it is at 26 or 27. Even if the Bruins fall out of the playoff chase and are sellers at the deadline, they are only re-tooling and Brazeau here for the next 3-5 provides way more value than he'll bring back as a UFA deadline player. That being said, if the Bruins are sellers and he's not extended, at that cap number he may be heavily pursued.

We should probably wait a little while before throwing millions at a career minor leaguer.

I think Braz would sign today at 4 years, $8 mil.

He plays like a center and I think once upon a time he did play the position and it makes sense when you watch him play with the puck.

I didn't realize he's a UFA at seasons end. Hope we lock him up.
We need to get him and Koepke locked up.

I love this guy, such slick mitts (arguably the best on the team), good hockey brain and vision, and a big load in and around the net. So much to like with this guy. I hope he maintains his play (and no reason to think he won't) but there is no rush to sign him is there? Let's see how he finishes after a strong start.

They'd be lucky if that were the case.

He's currently tied for 3rd on the team in production with Lindholm and a head of a bunch of guys who are making alot more than 2 mil/year. As a UFA he will get a market rate deal somewhere

He's on pace for ~40 points, about what Geekie did last season. What is that worth in a new deal assuming he maintains it? $3? He will get paid on sample size too. That said, he could be even better when all is said and done, and that would change things.

Sure, if he continues to produce.

Don't you think it would be prudent to see if that happens first?

13 points in 26 games isn't really that great. That's Geekie/Freddy range from last season.

In less than 13.5 mins a game, and only recently put on the power play. I don't know his points per 60, but I wager it's UP there. His peer group. I don't see 2M...

That kind of reach with soft hands and touch is an incredible weapon. Brazeau is no Super Mario obviously, but it was that reach with the silky mitts and touch that made Mario so special.
