Don’t think he’s really done enough to show he’s an NHLer. He should be working on his flaws in the minors in my opinion. They should let him dominate there since we already got so many dmen.
I guess management sees it differently.

From what I’ve seen of Barron, he definitely needs to work on his consistency. Aside from that. He has top two potential IMO. He has so much upside it’s crazy. You just know that if he can put it all together he can be a really good D for a long time in this league.
Yeah that's the usual challenge for young players....bringing it every game.

Since this new management just got started we probably need to give them some time.
That's fair, but I think they are doing a worse job with Slaf than any prospect MB handled. Barron, who I'm a huge fan of, still has some flaws that he needs to work on and I don't think 25 games improved them significantly. Of course I also believe that people learn in the NHL as well, but I guess time will tell.

Great news.

Wideman is supposed to be good on the PP lol might as well give the ice time to the youngins.

Habs had 7 heathly dmen and going on 4 games trip since both Savard and Matheson stayed in Montréal. Unless he outplays Wideman by a lot, he's back in Laval when the team comes back to Montréal.

You mean like Tinordi, Beaulieu, Juulsen, Scherbak, Poehling, Kotkaniemi? All of those were better handled than Slaf?

I’ve watched Barron since he was in minor hockey so I’m obviously a little biased however after he was traded Joe Sakic said this kid (Av’s 1st round pick) projects to be an NHL defender & will be in the big leagues sooner rather than later. Barron also has tremendous chemistry with Guhle. I don’t think MSL will partner them given Guhle’s workload & minutes.

I just heard that Leskinen was injured last game as I would have rather they called up him or Schueneman but with one injured maybe they wanted to have a vet since it's a very banged up and thin blueline for tomorrow's game against the Crunch. So it makes more sense to me now that they called him up. He has played better for sure at least but some of the stuff they do just flares up my MB development PTSD. :eek3:

Tinordi flat out sucked. Beaulieu has rocks for brains. Juulsen's injuries killed his career. Scherbak was producing over PPG in the AHL but nothing in the NHL. Poehling was producing in the AHL but cannot produce in the NHL. KK was given a greater role than Slaf in his rookie year.

Whatever your opinions on these players they were all 1st round picks that were handled improperly.
Keep convincing yourself that everyone of these prospects were handled better than Slaf so far.
You are in the minority with that thought process.

Let's see if he can play in the league and if we can hopefully at least break even on the trade.

it's so sad . I had big expectations , he was so good at one point.

he did this last year as well, after he returned from injury in the SHL he looked like shit for a while and then in the playoffs he went off. He started out looking good in Laval but after coming back from injury he looks like shit. But he's not even played half a season in North America yet due to injuries and a really stupid development plan under MB.

He'll either figure things out or he won't, the skill is there for sure.

It’s not just being Nova Scotians, they also train together in the summer.

The “Crosby’s boy” comment relates to Crosby’s reaction to the Avs trading Barron:

"Upon learning of the trade, Crosby said, 'I never would have done this if I were the Avalanche. This kid here, he's a real hockey player. He's ready to play in the NHL and he's going to be a good player."

LINK
Seems like it stems from being Nova Scotians lol I highly doubt they’d train in the summer together if he was from another province. It’s common to train with players from full different countries even but given the age difference it’s safe to say it’s because they’re from Halifax
