Not that Stephens was groundbreaking but it kind of leaves the door open for the addition of another C. Mystère et boule de gomme.
MLS is probably gaining a few (more) gray hair this week if no center is recalled/acquired to replace Stephens.

Saying that, considering the amount of minutes the 4th was playing, I've been thinking for a few weeks that MSL should just play with 3 lines anyway.

I mean Barron isn't an NHLer either. Even if he's just as bad defensively as Barron, the physicality difference and consistent use of offensive tools is night and day.
He is worse defensively in my opinion because he takes many more penalties. However I agree he is much better physically Speaking. Offensively speaking I am not sure the upside is much better.

Why you want Adam Erne with the Habs? He is pretty much a AHL player.

Only thing I can see is that if we grab a C on waivers, we must keep him at the NHL level so it could make sense to send down Mitchell because we won’t be able to do it for a waiver pickup.

I think they'd like to load up Laval for a run is part of this, along with people getting healthy...
Either that or they are sticking Primeau as a 4th line C.

I'm surprised by both moves, honestly. I've been a big supporter of Barron and thought Stephens was a serviceable 4th liner. I'm curious what they'll say as to why they did his. Unless there is a trade coming for a RD, it makes little sense unless they're satisfied play lefties on the right side. Or maybe they're wanting to give a major boost to Laval...

I think our future six D are: Guehle, Mailloux, Hutson, RB, Jackeye and Struble.

All others will be dealt in time.
It seems to be shaping up that way. Everyone has been given opportunity in this system and the management should absolutely know what we have!

I was expecting Ylonen or Pearson to be the ones on waivers, not Stephens. They should had kept Lindstrom and send down Barron two weeks ago

If Stephens is taken or just sent down to Laval, who will center the 4th line ?

Will they recall Xhekaj to face the Sens tomorrow ?

Engstrom might end up the best defenceman of this group, I can't wait to see him in NA.
I had not considered him earlier in the year but payed more attention since I started reading some of you big supporters of him and damn was I impressed

LMAO. Mailloux IMHO will be better than Barron. You will notice Engstrom and Kon are at the end of my list. That is by design. I want to trade Barron for a higher level forward. What is wrong with that?
The issue is that Mailloux will be better than Barron. But not today. If Mailloux is called up now, he will be exposed. He's simply not ready.

I wonder if they aren't calling up Condotta.
Because, as far as I know, the only player currently on the team who played center in the last five years is, what, Ylonen?

EDIT : Heh, Pezzetta.

Placing Stephens on waivers does not mean that they are sending him back to Laval.
Gorton was just on 690 and said there may be a move before tomorrow's game (check the internet he said), so maybe they will see if he clears before doing anything. He also said no trades are pending. And Xhekaj will be back at some point.

Barron hasn't shown any improvement this year. He's going to Laval and it's well deserved.

If Hughes is creative, he can add Barron to any trade involving Monahan in order for us to get more return.

I just don't see Barron with the team long term.

We might not want to keep the 6 best dmen. For example, maybe Romanov is better than Struble, long term. But we were able to use Romanov to get Dach. So we may use one of the current 6 best as a trade chip.
