All I will say is that if we're relying on Bob, we're ****ed. Bob HAS to be rotated, I think thats pretty obvious by now. We need one of Korpi or Forsberg to step up and be able to play 25-35 games. Bob HAS to stay fresh and not get overworked.

Thats my only real worry, is how they will Torts play Bob. I'm hoping he realizes he needs to be rotated.

I pretty much agree with you, but to play devil's advocate: Ryan Murray played in 82 games last year. One year ago, almost no one here would have thought that possible.

I'm not saying Bob has to play 82 games obviously. Just that you never know.

Murray's injury history is a lot different from Bob's.

Murray has been injured by freak accidents. Dislocating his shoulder, getting his skate stuck in the boards and twisting his knee, and Johansen falling on him injuring his ankle.

He doesn't have the same issue popping up and it isn't really due to his play either.

Bob on the other hand is repeatedly having the same issue. Both sides of his groin keep tearing. This is directly related to his play as a goaltender.

My point was that last year Ryan Murray was labeled as injury prone, this year Bob is. Who knows what could happen.

Better defensive play could save Bob some ware & tare. That may have been the thought when they went after and brought in Shaw to coach the defense.

I think thats safe to say, id still rather start out with him in a rotation and let him build up the confidence and get in a groove before letting him take more than 2 or 3 games in a row

Seems like the t-shirt gatling gun had it's air pressure massively reduced this past season.

Good to see I'm not the only person who noticed.

It's pressure is perfect!

I went to 10 games last season and caught six shirts! First it was fun to just get one. Then I realized that every time they shot a couple in my area they were right where i was sitting.

Since CBJ attendance took a nose dive last season there weren't always a big group around the lower bowl redline.

I haven't read through all the posts, but the title of the thread sums up things for me. Just not excited. Nothing has been done to make me sit up and take notice of this team. I just don't understand why a 27th place team is standing pat. I get the cap space and it takes two to tango stuff, but if Jarmo really wanted to get something done, it would get done. I have no expectations for this year at all. If they suck, it's oh well, if they are good, it will be a pleasant surprise. This team has broken me over the last couple years of same old, same old.

Your own post indicates that the team will feature 3-4 new faces this coming season.

After watching the playoff run of the Monsters, training camp is going to be very competitive this year because these kids are going to be making some serious pushes for the big club. The thing that has impressed me about the Monsters is how fast they play and how relentless their pressure is on the forecheck. I formulate a new lineup about every couple of weeks, but here's where I'm at right now.

Saad-Jenner-Atkinson
Hartnell-Wennberg-Bjorkstrand
Calvert-Dubinsky-Foligno
Rychel-Karlsson-Anderson

Campbell
Boll or Clarkson - whoever isn't traded or buried

Jones-Murray
Johnson-Savard
Goloubef-Werenski
Prout

Bobrovsky
Korpisalo/Forsberg

The offseason will be interesting and it will start in earnest in a couple of weeks.

From within the organization, which should have been done years ago. Honestly, this might be the first time this has happened in the history of the organization. I guess the novelty of the Calder Cup has worn off and I'm back to realizing this is a 27th place club that is relying on rookies for improvement. I just think Jarmo so far has misplayed his hand so to speak. Some time left, maybe something happens, but I think this is our club.

It's not rookies that improve the team, it's young players who have already been here. 21 to 24 year olds.

It's as if some folks are just not familiar with how athletes' career arcs work.

Yeah it's our club. Most clubs, even bad ones, are slotting 3-4 new guys in their lineups. So there you go.

And maybe the players weren't there to do "this" "years ago." These rookies aren't, for the most part, your traditional "hope for the best" rookies, but young players at the point in their development at which they have pressed for a spot and presuming they get it will have earned it rather than been given it. This is also a good thing.

Thirdly I'll echo major's point that it's the young existing roster players that should be bringing whatever improvement there is going to be. Wennberg, Jones, Murray, Saad, Jenner. These guys are the core, and they're the ones we should be looking to for improvement, both in their own play and in the team results.

None of this is to say I'm making any predictions. My ongoing use of a bunny with a pancake on its head is a metaphor for my "expectations" for the Jackets - which is to say, I have no idea. I'll just be glad when the games start again.
