Trouba isn't great and is wildly overpaid but he has utility as a 3rd pair guy and PKer. He can make a decent pass in the Ozone.

Lindgren, however, is just burnt toast.

I think those are all reasonable takes.

I'd love to keep him but I dont want to give him more than 7. I think Slavin's previous contract is actually a great comp for him adjusted for increased cap. That would be a little under 6m per year.

Are we comparing Miller to a 2nd overall pick?
I also dont think we're ever going to see any kind of legit offense from Miller. He is far more of a defensive defenseman, which is one of the reasons that he works well with fox.

I'd sign up for $5.6-$6m LONG term (think 7-8 years). That's 2nd pairing money for a guy who is exactly that.

I think we have more than enough evidence to see Trouba is an active detriment in the playoffs. That outweighs his ability to do the bare minimum on the 3rd pair imo

It's amazing with Lindgren. I dont know if he is out of shape or the injurires have just caught up with him, but Ive never seen a 26 year old get put on his ass more than him. He bounces off guys smaller than him. He's tracking to be out of the league by 30.

Lindgren is simply way too small to play the style of game that he does. His play declining was utterly predictable.

I reckon the price for Crosby isn’t that high tbh. If he is willing to be traded he’ll give Pitt a number of teams he’s willing to go to and they’ll make it happen. It won’t be a massive bidding war. I could see it costing futures like GP and Fortescue and a first. Something like that. A high price but not exorbitant.
disagree it is way too high
R's gotta stop w/rental addiction

I’m more concerned with Miller’s next contract demands than I am his play right now. If he’s looking for $7m+ then he should be dealt. He’s a nice compliment to Fox and if the defense was built correctly, they’d have depth behind them.

In saying that, his defensive gaffs and braindead plays are a concern after this long in the league

would say KAM is uneven atm.
Not bad
has enuf physical that w/tinkering to system, partner, etc results go up

I called 6.25 x 8 for KAM when he was/was projected to be kickin it year/two ago
ballpark this holds still
might be able to squeeze him down a hair, but no big whoop

Lindgren is simply way too small to play the style of game that he does. His play declining was utterly predictable.
And yet no one listened to bern when I begged we pls not self rent and move him while he had value!
go figure!!

I presume McAvoy doing relatively well but not crushing it, otherwise he'd be off the table?

W Othmann [elc ready enuf now], first rounder Emery [well regarded D prospect], 2025 NYR 1st, Smith [playing well top 6 F], cap dump stopgaps Lindgren, Vesey

for

McAvoy

cap is ballpark to his 9.5

Bs get useful stuf + structural cap relief + youth
Rs get RD switch Fox to LD, pair
then KAM-Schneider
Jones - Mancini

until dealt, Trouba gets odd shift as reserve D to keep sharp, but is mostly 4RW
Kreider - Chytil/Carrick - Zib [til Gabe P is here]
bread - Tro - LaF
Cuylle - Brodz/Chytil - Kakko
Edstrom - Rempe - Trouba

Can we franchise tag Kakko every year ala Kirk Cousins?

In all seriousness he’s playing himself into an extension. He’s been really good this season, and last night he finally looked like the player we all want him to be.

The Rangers will win the Cup when Lindgren and Trouba are replaced by guys who don't suck. I really don't see any glaring issues with the team now that Lavi put the lines back to how they should be.

Is Mrs Trouba Ok with us trading him mid-season? I feel like this can't wait until the summer lol.
Trade him to Boston , only a 6 hour drive for the Tuba family

I don't hate the idea of playing Mancini big minutes in the AHL to develop for half the season and then recalling him. They did something similar with McDonagh. Sometimes patience is the right approach
I hate it. Especially when he would be an upgrade on what we have now, and are actually trying to win this season (our last chance)

Now, if Drury went and made a trade to get an upgrade at D then yes, let him marinate.

i'm of the opinion that we will retain Kreider and probably Panarin at reduced rates long term.

between those two, Laf, Kakko, Cuylle, and Perreault, i think we're set at top9 Wing.

But you don't get by with spending that for a 3rd pair player. You can't sheltering and limit just to get a utility player out of 8million cap.

Give Lindgren some time, wait for an injury elsewhere and then trade him and bring up Mancini

Yes, Lindgren is struggling but it’s a long season. Why isn’t he with Fox where they’ve had a lot of success? It’s not like KAM is looking great either. Why not put him back with Schneider?

Because Lindgren was paired with Fox and was terrible.
Fox and miller are looking good.

Cuylle is playing himself into a much bigger contract. Extending him for term would probably be ideal, but the cheaper route might be a 2 year deal because if he's pacing for 50 points at the end of the season, that long term deal isn't going to be a cheap as we hope. Kakko is having a better season also needs a new deal.

It would be our luck that players figure it out during contract years.

@bernmeister I don't see how we make a move for McAvoy even while dumping Lindgren and Trouba. We need the cap and will need to potentially make a big move when Panarin's deal expires, should we not re-sign him. If Panarin is breaking 100 points through the end of his contract, then I don't see why he takes a much cheaper deal. He probably looks for a 2-3 deal at an above 10m rate.

Lindgren has dragged Fox down for over a year. Trouba/Miller is disgusting. Where are you seeing Lindgren and Fox great together? This just screams listening to Sam and Joe babble on about how much of a warrior Lindgren is...

I’m really not sure about signing Igor to the contract he wants. But what choice do they have ? He at least gives them a chance to contend for a cup.
