I think Cozens has lost so much value that he's no longer a huge piece.

Peterka is a great player that could hit ppg some seasons and 40+ goals. The deal would hurt like hell but EP + Garland fill important needs for the Sabres.

Byram is our best defenseman this season when it comes to 5 vs 5. He's the only guy that I think has improved significantly of the more senior players.

I might throw in a 2nd to win a bidding war but I think this should be enough.

I’m not super familiar with Buffalos line-up but wouldn’t Pettersson slot into Cozens spot?

I do think Royal Puck is onto something tho, the cap would work well with that deal.

Maybe tweak it some more and add Hoglander or temp D replacement for Byram into the mix to spice it up a little more.
 
This really reminds me of when Vancouver should have fired their coach a long time ago and everyday their coach talked about how he's going to lose his job but he's still going to work today and doing the best that he can.

You can check my history. I am not a Canucks fan but this is just fuel for the fire and I don't need that.

I'm an Oilers Fan. It's really nice when you can play a Canadian team that you actually hate in the playoffs.

When we played Calgary 2 years ago and when we played Vancouver last year that felt awesome. That was exciting at times. I was like holy cow. We might actually lose this.

I don't want to see Vancouver fall apart. Vancouver please do something to force your team to fix things so that you don't go into a rebuild so that you can be competitive so that I can hate playing against you and complain about the officiating and everything else that we whiny Oilers fans complain about end of story. Hurry up and find a happy ending for us all. Yeah

Kulich is right now our top 6 C and looks better than Cozens. Honestly I'd really like to trade Cozens (even if not in a Canucks deal) but I'd also like to keep Kulich, even if he doesn't make a good top 6 C, he could be a very good top 6 winger for us given his shot and two-way game.

Pettersson asks for a trade 1-2 years after acquiring him and it's Eichel all over again. If I was a Sabres fan, I'd be very worried about that. Remember, Pettersson got the NMC and that was signed with the Canucks. It kicks in July.

If I was the Sabres GM, I'd find out pretty quickly how much Pettersson wants to be in Buffalo before I do any trade.

Power+ makes sense but then I wonder... How does the Canucks center depth look? I think they are probably asking for Power and Cozens and maybe then the Canucks add something? Does 2 for 1 tip it in the Canucks favor?

Is the 2 for 1 fair for both sides? I am not sure. Just trying to give you guys an outlook from the outside looking in. It's very possible all 3 players are overpaid but then I wonder, who is overpaid the most? Power? He's still got some development required.

Buffalo fans should be open with any player on their team tbh… maybe except for Dahlin. Like no offense to Buffalo but they haven’t been relevant in over a decade they really don’t have the leverage to hold one of their players on a pedestal lol should Buffalo entertain the idea of Pettersson? Yes! Should they be relunctant to trade someone on their team? No! Kevyn Adams is already on the hot seat. At some point he’s gotta get the ship settled.

My idea would be if they go out and make this deal and they take a guy like Power or Byram out. You gotta be able to spend a lot of money in free agency. You gotta surround Pettersson with players and you gotta go fill the hole left by Power or Byram. So make the trade but be ready to spend some money in July

Man Dahlin and Thompson will ask for a trade in 1-2 years, and Tuch will go to UFA if the Sabres don't do something and improve the team for next season. So the situation may look critical in the near future if the team is not improved as soon as possible.

Different angle I didn't think about. Fair... Sabres do need to make the playoffs because it's been a very long rebuild now!

Mentioned above, but if it's Pettersson to BUF for a package including Cozens, your top 2 Cs would then be Thompson + Pettersson, so Kulich would not get that spot. Understandable that you like him so much you'd be willing to play him on the wing, but it might be better for BUF to leverage the strength they have at C (they have McLeod as 3C too, so they seem solid there in this scenario).

For VAN/BUF, I estimate (i.e. guess :P) that these 2 packages would be of interest (one with Kulich, the other without):

To BUF: Pettersson, Mynio
To VAN: Cozens, Byram, Kulich

To BUF: Pettersson, Pettersson (D :laugh:), Desharnais
To VAN: Cozens, Power
 
I do know PA is very interested in Tuch and has asked for him in the past. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s included in the deal if it happens

I hate the "We aren't thrilled with offers for Miller so we're going to circle back with Pettersson on the market." Choose who you want to get rid of or trade them both. Don't just trade Pettersson because he has more value. Trade him because it makes your team better.

It's just a negotiating tactic.

They’ve moved Thompson to RW. Even if they move him back to centre, they would then move Kulich to that RW spot. He’s not going anywhere.
