I can only imagine what he would have done alongside someone like Mackinnon, Panarin or Hughes. His offensive ceiling is likely higher than many thought.
The way he was playing at the beginning of the season, he would not had played with any of these guys.

I think it would’ve made sense to do it. They didn’t wait for Jagr, they just played him with Mario. That’s how you develop guys. You give them the best players.

Feel free to look back on this thread. Around game eight I said they should play him on the top line or send him down. He wasn’t going to develop playing with Josh Anderson. Sometimes you just bring a kid along by playing him with better players. It brings confidence and that’s the key to success.

You cannot compare Jagr and Mario with Slaf and Suzuki.... Jagr was miles ahead of Slaf when he came to the NHL. And the game was so different back then.

Was working out, how good was Slaf tonight ?

I'll also add that @Goldenhands is the one poster who I feel nailed Slafs scouting report. He was mocked when he said Slaf had a power game (and that he was a smart player), but in truth he was absolutely right.
Mocked by who? I don't really see any of the negative nancies around anymore.

Power game doesn't mean mindlessly hitting like Anderson or Wilson, it can also mean that he just shields the puck really well. I see a lot of Hossa and Jagr in how he handles the puck in corenrs. If he's even half as good as either player I'll be happy.

You absolutely can when looking at how they play. I don't think anyone is saying he's going to put up 149 points in a season...

His first game of the season with Dach was pretty good. It’s not really how ‘’he’’ was playing it’s with who, no one connects with Anderson.

I’m not comparing them. Im saying it makes sense to play your best prospects with your best players.

Unfortunately for us, we don’t have a Mario Lemieux. We have to settle for Suzuki and CC.

Slaf last season was not ready for NHL hockey, and this year, he had to prove that he was and work on his weaknesses. As soon as MSL felt he was progressing, he was put with CC and Suzuki.

Thx. I would say he is trending well to end up the year with around 40 pts, what was my numbers prediction at the start of the season. The confidence is growing and most people can see the huge upside now, thats fantastic,

I predicted he would become a 80-90 pts power winger in his prime, next seasons will be interesting to keep following his raise.

You are one of the few that is high on Helenius, which is why I secretly hope we have to "settle" for him this draft.

It was kind of a waste those games with bottom six guys. The Dach move was good but him getting hurt messed things up. I guess they wanted to see what he could do but it clearly didn’t work. Im glad they pulled the switch early.

If Celebrini, Lindstrom are gone when we pick, I think Helenius becomes a legit option. I will eventually post a video on him in the draft thread.

side conversation, but last year RHP connected with Anderson. Why doesn't MSL try them together on either the 3rd or 4th line??

At least it would free other wingers from having to play with Anderson.

I sense many Hutson to Slaf goals on the PP in the not too distant future

Slaf net drive with a blind reverse to Hutson, seam pass to Caufield who hits a trailing Guhle/Reinbacher/Mailloux/Xhekaj for the one-time snipe in the middle of the net. All the while Captain Suzuki’s been spearing mother****ers in the nuts to open the lanes. Win Cup
