Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky Discussion

Matheson was actually fine on PP1. That unit was good. Just replace Dach with Newhook (or Dvorak for faceoffs). That will be unit 1B.

Unit 1A would be Laine-Heineman-Demidov-Hutson-Suzuki

Matheson is atrocious on the PP.

He cant get a shot thru screens. He can't hold the puck at the blue. He can't pass for shit. 0 creativity.

He has no reason to ever see the PP.

One game doesnt define a player… Pretty clear Brady is injured. I’m not saying Slaf wont ever be as good than Brady, but right now it’s not even close. Tkachuk would be a fan favorite in Mtl if he was a habs.
Funny enough, in his D+3 season Brady had 36 pts in 56 GP. If you prorate it, it would be 51 pts in 79 GP.

We were over 20% with Matheson on PP1.

At any rate, I'm not suggesting removing Hutson, just getting Demidov reps and spreading out the munitions over the two units. Doing this will make our PP harder to defend against.

And Tkachuk only had one year of junior eligibility when drafted too when Slaf had two.

He compares favourably production wise with every other big forward star at the same age. I think only Rantanen was ahead of him at the same age and he gets treated like a bum.

He was in the mix in the first goal and that 2nd goal was largely due to him. No points.
So respectable production plus all these other plays that don’t show up on the stat sheet while still being quite raw.

Are yoy saying Slaf is better at the same age? Pretty sure i read Slaf is better right now than him and thats blatant homerism.
None of that actually, I do not like the comparison at all, but I am saying that Slaf can easily develop point production similar to Brady. He will never be that kind of agitator, but that it is OK.

I can't believe you singled this out lol

I mean talk about 'the little things'

On the highlight package I had to rewind this play like 10 times because I couldn't BELIEVE Slaf tied up the guys stick so Caufield could score lol, it's interesting to watch too because you think he's going after the puck himself and he totally could but the smarter play was keep the lane open the lane for Cole who buries it

Is that...iq? Naaah
First off, I said he played it perfectly. I simply and clearly disagreed with giving him credit for occupying the goalie when he wasn’t anywhere close to the goalie.

Secondly, he doesn’t tie up the stick. You should watch it an 11th time.

I’m saying Brady is better right now 1vs1, not talking at the same age lmfao. Read the last couple posts.

My bad.

Though, frankly, right now the gap is pretty small and largely a matter of consistency.

Slaf's best > Brady's best

when the kid figures out how to bring it nightly, it wont be in question.

Totally disagree but whatever if you really think Slaf best is the better than Tkachuk best, thats ur opinion, smells a bit like Homerism to me. Tkachuk best was dominating the 4 nations event.

Meh... Granlund also excelled at 4 nations. Overstating a novelty tournament performance ain't my thing, but if it's yours, might want to recall that Slaf dominated the Olympics as an 18 year old ;)

Someone tell him a Capital killed his cat before the game or something. There must be some anger hidden deep inside Slafkovsky somewhere?

How pacifist can a guy be? It’s a great personality trait in real life; hockey not so much… The way he never expected late or blindside hits when he started out is telling; it’s not just awareness I figure.

Same lvl of talent on the ice between thoses two tourny thats true! Brady Best > Slaf Best and not even close just stop now. Maybe Slaf is gonna get better, who knows, not the case right now.
