Hi guys!

I'm interested in making a list of junior players that are not loaned out to the WJCs by their respective NHL team. Looking through all threads and teams is a bit too time consuming for me. Could you guys help me out? (I'll update the list in this OP as often as possible).

As Statsy points out it is indeed very hard to know if the player was held back by the team or chose to stay, so the list will include every NHL regular that won't be at the WJCs. If a mod wants to change the thread title, please feel free.

So far, the ones I know of (confirmed):

Team Sweden: Burakovsky (WSH)

Team Canada: Ekblad (FLA), MacKinnon (COL), Drouin (TB), Horvat (VAN)

Team Finland: Barkov (FLA)

Team Canada: Bo Horvat, Likely Curtis Lazar

Team Russia: Nikita Zadorov, Valeri Nichushkin

Team Germany: Leon Draisaitl

Team Finland: Alex Barkov

Team USA: Seth Jones

That's off the top of my head.

Russia: Nikushkin, Zadorov
Germany: Draisaitl
Canada: Lazar

Those aren't all official yet, but expect the announcements to start rolling in.

I'll just add the ones that are official for now. Anyone on that list that is official? Seth Jones, I'd guess?

Jones is born October 1994. He's not eligible.

Add Mirco Mueller to that list. Germans will be missing him on the blueline.

No official word on Lazar yet from Ottawa but I doubt very much Lazar will be going to Team Canada this year.

For Canada, Mackinnon, Drouin, Horvat, Lazar (likely), Ekblad are the eligible players who will be playing in the NHL instead.

Horvat's official.

What about Mirco Mueller?

Mirco Mueller will make the decision on whether or not he wants to go soon.

Hopefully he does. Isn't he just sitting in the pressbox for SJ?

The Swiss will be missing him more ;) I'm sure the Germans will be fine with it when they play each other.

So, he is not really stopped by the Sharks? If it's his own choice, he won't make the all important list, sorry.. :)

Yes, but there's a fine line between being held back by the team and saying you'd rather stay with the team. It's really difficult to know where the truth lies sometimes, and we'd also have to take some other players off the list if you don't count Mueller. Best to just leave him on there and make the list "Eligible players who won't be there". That also includes guys that are lost due to injury. Which reminds me, we should also throw Sam Bennett on the list. If he were healthy, he would probably be there.

Imagine 6-3" 230lb Barkov parking his butt infront of goal. His officially not coming. Olympic bronze medalist.
