Rebooting myself
Immediately thought of Kirill Starkov. He was married and was sent back to juniors for another year, and they made him live with a billet family. His wife had to go live somewhere else because she couldn't stay there too. He had lived by himself since he was 14 or 15 because he went to Sweden to play at that age, and suddenly, now a married man, he had to obey curfews and do chores and stuff, and was denied to live with his wife.
Actually those are basic junior rules. A buddy of mine who played for Seattle had a shotgun wedding shortly after turning 18 and when he tried to rent a house for him, his wife and child, he was told he had to stay with the billeted family and his family could not. This was over 20 years ago so the rules may have changed. He was suspended by the team a few times because he spent the night with his wife and kid and not in billeted house
Also, the some of one of my European buddies has a kid in the nhl who played in the western league and the team tried to force him to go to school. School over in Sweden and the US in a little different. My buddies kid had already graduated from what the US would call high school and had a diploma and everything--but the team tried to have him register in one of the local high school. He was in fact taking some courses via Gonzaga uni at the time. My buddy got so frustrated he had to fly to the states, sit down with teams GM and owner, a high school administrator and one of the profs from Gonzaga before the team clued into the fact he had a high school diploma.
BTW
Something no one likes talking about is when "Relations" happen in a billeted home, whether it be between the daughter of the family or another family member.
