Marek Malik deserves to be in the rafters (especially since most fans tried to put him there via lynching)#8 I love that
To be fair in regard to Millers point drop, he's playing a lot less.
To kind of throw a wrench in that, he's not going to play more here. Laviolette will 100% still see Zibanejad as the 1C.
They are trying to thread a needle that is less likely to end in a Cup than other approaches that are more viable. That doesn’t mean stripping the cupboard bare but they would have to be very proactive in getting Kreider and Zibanejad out of here and winning the trades pretty clearly and turning the assets into Sam Reinhart and Matthew Tkachuk age and talent level players. The mental gymnastics being done to try to say this was a bad trade for the Rangers are something
Also, this shows the Rangers have no plan? They obviously had a plan to change the culture and they have done that. Trading for a potential 90-100 point center for pennies on the dollar coming off 2/3 ECFs, is a complete no brainer. Even if he’s 31 and about to die of old age like some think. We traded our crap that didn’t fit and added the best player in every deal we’ve made. Drury has crushed it since sent that memo. Now it’s up to the players. Mika & Kreider will be jettisoned if they don’t shape up. The new leadership of JT and Trocheck will be a much better influence in n our young guys going forward.
High praise @GoAwayPanarin .. thank you! I will always be for the people!!Took a quick gander on the Canucks thread for this trade and apparently the deal on the table a few weeks ago was this one but with Lindgren in place of Mancini according to EF.
I wish they did that one instead. I have a hard time believing that the Rangers got talked into Mancini as Vancouver lost all their leverage after Rantanen went to Carolina, they talked Vancouver off of Lindgren which is vomit.
Also massive shout out to @ThePeoplesPeople. When the Rangers scratched Sykora and Chmelar a few weeks ago everyone assumed that they were involved in this deal and he said that their scratching had nothing to do with this.
He was right... again.
For the rest of you wack ass wanna be insiders, this is how you get actual insider status.
I don't buy it.
Dolan is not assessing trade value lol. The dude probably heard JT Miller got traded here and asked why the Rangers traded for a player they already have.
ok Charlie Brown...To be fair in regard to Millers point drop, he's playing a lot less.

When you post an alert, I start salivating.High praise @GoAwayPanarin .. thank you! I will always be for the people!!
i would find another pastime than watching hockey... you're not very good at this one.I would have preferred lafy go rather than Fil. That Fil brain tho makes it tough to make plans for him even tho he has top 2C upside.
Three 30 something centerman makes me nauseous. I mean troch and miller sounds good but then add in the carcas of what was mika and its down right scary.
Lafy giving off lazy panarin vibes has me worried.
Lol...it better be Zibanejad and Kreider, add Miller and Laf...those two bros can play their little games on pp2 for 20 secondsSo who comes off PP1? Trocheck?
“A Miller here, a Miller there, Sicilian bitch with long hair, with coke in her derrière”Do something with Miller in it, you have 2 chances to be right.

And even so I’m not sure, by time they got around to accomplishing all this, that a 33 year old center will still be a first line caliber player where it wouldn’t have been more valuable to invest Chytil and the first into something else.
We will see.
What’s clear is that Drury has a hard on for Miller and has been trying to get him for years. An Athletic article said that we turned down Schneider and a first for Miller 3 years ago.
Now that would have been a much wiser investment of a first rounder at that time. The first went on to be used on an Andrew Copp rental. I would give up Schneider for the extra three years of Miller than than a first now. We might have a Cup.
That’s why we should be way more proactive going after 26 year olds rather than getting fixated on certain guys.
Having 5 guys suddenly play like that is usually an indicator of bad or weak coaching. All those guys didn't suddenly become garbage overnight. He was a 100-point player last year. This year, not so much. It remains to be seen if he can be that with the Rangers. If he was 27, I'd have a lot more confidence in him being that.
We now have 5 players who are over 30 and are having down years compared to last year. That isn't exactly a recipe for success.
In a just world. With Bozo Dino coach still around, that won’t be happeningLol...it better be Zibanejad and Kreider, add Miller and Laf...those two bros can play their little games on pp2 for 20 seconds
Well 20 did lol . But yes, if Drury was serious about turning things around he’d dump Lavi alreadyHaving 5 guys suddenly play like that is usually an indicator of bad or weak coaching. All those guys didn't suddenly become garbage overnight.
I don’t think I would have been any more against it than a first to rent Copp.I enjoy going back and forth with you but I was all for trading for JT three years ago. There’s a 0% chance you would’ve been on board with Schneider and a 1st for JT. You would have called for Drury’s head if he made a deal like that
The majority of cases for these guys not playing as well is not a less of talent, aging or injury. It is not being properly coached and/or motivated . However Drury is not bailing ship on Lavy just yet. He will have a chance to rally the troops after this big shakeup. And Miller is likely to become 1C with him being super stoked being in NY and resuming his high level play. Miller will slide into the Mika role and he is much much better suited for it.I don't think this is the case.
He's going to deploy Zibanejad as a matchup defensive guy which is a role that he's never excelled in.
I'm sure a large part of the problem is the locker room issues for both teams, but one player declining can drag down the players he plays with, and that can have a cascading effect on the rest of the team as they may feel more pressure to produce as a result.Having 5 guys suddenly play like that is usually an indicator of bad or weak coaching. All those guys didn't suddenly become garbage overnight.
The coaches should be immediately fired if that's what happens, or Drury shoudl come down there and beat the absolutel shit out of LavioletteTo be fair in regard to Millers point drop, he's playing a lot less.

He doesn't have that fight in him. I'd honestly look for another Center and move Mika to wing ( assuming he wont waive )I don't think this is the case.

You know that he used to be a Ranger right?Canucks fan, here.
JT is going to become a fan fave for you guys. Vancouver routinely chanted his name in rogers arena in the last couple seasons. His compete level is A+ (if you don't count how casually he comes back after he gets beat sometimes) and he's a beast in the faceoff dot. Easily the best faceoff man the Canucks had, and I have no idea where they're gonna replace that now. He's one of those guys that brings up his game to another level when he gets to the playoffs, too. 30 points in his last 30 playoff games. In the last 4 regular seasons, literally only 10 players have scored more points than this guy in the entire league. Elite level, and on a decent contract no less.
On the bad side: He's no spring chicken. I predict you'll be thrilled with him for the next couple seasons, and then things probably won't be so rosey with his contract for the rest of it. As far as recent issues go, he's been deeply distracted and unhappy in a way I've never seen him in the entire tenure in Vancouver. They say this issue with Pettersson has been going on for years, but no one has seen any actual on-ice evidence of it until the last few months, and now he's only scored 3 goals since the middle of november, and he didn't even celebrate those goals. Like he didn't look like he even felt ANYTHING. Then he took a leave of absence and refused to talk about it? Odd. Very odd. Something is off. Maybe it's just the Petey drama, but I dunno. It's weird. My hope for him is that he leaves whatever it was behind in Vancouver, and has a great new fresh start in NYC.
