He was 1.69 pts/game that playoffs. That’s not the definition of shutting him down that’s more like slightly slowing him down if it can even be attributed to JT Miller.

Looking at regular season against Miller and the Nucks, McDavid continues to feast over a long sample size of 5 years against Miller included Nucks. So what, does Millers shutdown McDavid game only exist for a couple games in the playoffs?
For the purposes of this thread it would have been more sufficient to say ‘asked to shut down McDavid’.

Nonetheless, since you’re so obsessed to nitpick this one detail, why don’t you tell us how many of McJesus’ 9 pts came 5vs.5, even better 5v5 vs Miller specifically.

You’re attributing that way too much to JT. If that effect at all held during the 58 other games they played against eachother maybe you’d be onto something. But the statement “shut down” McDavid would still be an overstatement, he might have maybe slowed him down a bit from a great pace to a still good pace. In that 7 game short sample, there were other factors at play as well.
Literally scored like 50% less than his average throughout the playoffs. Miller was assigned to matching up against him. At what point do you give the guy some credit.

How about the next four years?
To be honest thats what they said two seasons ago when he struggled and only had 82 points in 81 games. They said he was washed and overpaid. Then he put up 103. Again he's nearly PPG despite turmoil and slow season. He's just an elite scorer. Thats the bottom line.

No. Literally scoring 50% less would be like a .80ppg, not 1.3ppg.

I’m happy to give him some credit. Not happy to say he “shut down McDavid” though. That’s something else. And that’s something I HAVE seen happen before, but not out of Miller.

His job. If they go from a president's trophy to a lottery team while turning the entire dressing room against him he will be fired and he's gonna be pretty desperate to keep his job.

It's been reported that ownership is fully behind Drury, as they should be. They've been a top team for the last 3 seasons with 2 ECF runs which equals a lot of playoff revenue.

There's nothing to save this year. The Rangers are punting this season and should look to trade Borgen, Lindgren, and Kreider at a minimum at the deadline this year.

Please trade Miller to a different team, for the sake of Rangers. Save Chris Drury from himself.
reunite him with bo horvat.;):naughty:

Rick Dhaliwhal has already stated that the Canucks have zero interest in taking Mika Zibanejad back in any trade.
dont need mika zibanjed. these two teams are not the perfect trading partners. dont give up brayden schiender or another young prospect. no deal.

Elliotte Friedman just did his Saturday headlines and the biggest thing he mentioned is that there are 3 scenarios:

1. Petey and Miller stay.

2. One of them goes.

3. Both of them go.

The 3rd option has been bandied about by fans, but I hadn't heard it from anywhere official.

I would hate it if we dealt Petey, personally.

Really hey, who has shut down McDavid? 97 points in his last 53 playoff games. 88 in 46 not vs Miller.

Hahah sorry quite literally 30% less points. Hows that?

It’s more a team effort required, systems level requirement. 2021 Jets. Pointless in all but 1 game. The 1 game he had 3 assists though so ended up .75ppg for the series.

Miller for Chytil, Schneider and a 2025 1st protected or what's up

or

Miller for Chytil, Miller and a 2025 1st protected if management thinks Willander can step into the 2nd pairing role

Impossible to say when a guy is going to decline, but he's coming off a 103 point season and the slow pace this season can easily be attributed to whatever reason he took personal time off. He should still bounce back and be at or close to a PPG this season. They're the same age but Zibanajed looks much more like the classic player falling off with age. Unless you can attribute it to something else, such as the general suckyness of the Rangers so far this season.

It's not something I can evaluate as a fan, but the Canucks can't afford to get stuck with a new Loui Eriksson contract right now. Miller I'd say is easiler the safe bet to not be falling off, and more importantly here it seems to be the Rangers that are after Miller. We more or less know who the Canucks had interest for in the past and it wasn't Zibanajed.
