I'm not going to speculate what's going on in his personal life.

However that statement to me reads the team told Miller to take time off. Something has been off with JT this entire season. He's been mopey, I noticed it when the press asked him about Lekkerimäki's first goal, his response was "I passed him the puck, he shot it, and it went in". That's not a response you expect from one of your better players. Even the benching and Tocc's comments post game, something seemed off.

I don't think it's out of question that something happened in the lockerroom with JT, either with a player or a member of the coaching staff, and the team felt it was best he didn't come on this road trip. Do I think Miller wants out? Hell no, but the dude is emotional, and I could see it rubbing some people the wrong way.

I'm just gonna say it - you would have to be oblivious not to notice the change in Pettersson's demeanor since Miller stepped away. There is or was something going on between those two. No point in speculating exactly what it is.

back in the original 'miller is toxic' days when everyone was speculating that miller and horvat didn't get along i heard from people who would know that they got along fine and it was really more of a veterans vs younger players split

I think you're way off here honestly. The biggest change in Pettersson happened when Boeser got hurt. When Miller left he knew he had to take it up another notch, and he did.

It was clear that Miller hadn't been right for a while, and all indications are that he had something going on personally. I really don't think it had anything to do with anyone else on the team.

Watch the video above and tell me he's not being mopey.

He's "being mopey" because he's going through some shit and he's not in a good place mentally... which most likely has nothing to do with anyone else on the team.

And to be fair, that was also after a pretty dismal loss where where I wouldn't be surprised to see him pissed off.

This feels less like moping and more like someone completely broken and trying to hold it together. This is way too drastic a response to losing a game in November. Something is up with the guy and hopefully he can get to a better place with this break.

We don't know what is going on. But what I can say for absolutely sure is that when things aren't right - really not right - there is only so long you can keep it together. I know that personally, have experienced and am experiencing it now. I can hardly imagine having to do that in public, with all the scrutiny, and speaking to media and so on.

Hope and pray every good thing for the guy.

I haven't speculated here at all, because it's just felt wrong, but I'll say that I'm worried.

I don't think Miller or any other NHLer would take a leave if things weren't somehow seriously wrong. So I second the bolded.

I'm surprised that people are surprised ANY time Miller reacts emotionally. It's in his DNA. Lots of tea reading going on here, including the idea of a rift between him and EP based on EP's recent improvement in play. It is far more likely that Elias picked up his game because he had to based on the lack of Miller, Boes etc, which is a good thing.

Or you know... he is just figuring out ways to be effective despite losing his mobility?

The problem with the statement is that it implies there was something wrong with Miller as a teammate or player that required him to seek help, Allvin tried to be vaguely positive but instead inserted clues. Should've just said Miller was taking care of himself and that he'd be back when ready.

I agree there's not much use in speculating but sudden absences will always make people wonder.

i think he said what he said because this is the crazyass local media and fanbase that turned on luongo for flying to miami to be with his wife during a rocky pregnancy. he thought that signaling that it was serious and he wasn’t giving miller time off for post-daylight savings blues would stave the jackals off more than rile them up. and he probably wasn’t wrong.

How the hell do you relate "seeking help" with being a bad teammate or player lol? There's no implication of the sort, it's just your bizarre interpretation.

You don't even know what the help is for.

“better teammate,” exact words out of allvin’s mouth. what is he talking about? who the f knows, but literally what allvin said.

Honestly team should just tank the next three years rather than building off of Bennings residuals.

yeah no one will ever respect allvin’s accomplishments unless he brings in his entire core. walk the guys he inherited to free agency, trade them for human garbage, whatever it takes.

I disagree. I'll just leave it at that.
