It really would have been better to not say anything.I don't love that response. All it's going to do is further speculation. Especially the part about him "seeking help"
IMO this still appears to and would fit his volatile personality, plssed off and trade demand.Man obviously this is 100% speculation since none of us know anything, but when I see this I can't help but think back to the pre-season interview with some new guys when Desharnais was asked what he learned about the Canucks and he said "JT Miller is an asshole".
Now don't get me wrong I'm not crying foul. If anything it was meant in a complimentary manner, had valid context, and was nothing out of the ordinary for hockey talk. But on the off chance JT is struggling with his mental health and the pressure of people constantly saying he's moody and such, that joke suddenly just hits totally different.
I hope I'm wrong and whatever is going on gets sorted and I'm spouting complete nonsense. Just something that I've been thinking about since this all started.
Wrong thread.
The problem with the statement is that it implies there was something wrong with Miller as a teammate or player that required him to seek help, Allvin tried to be vaguely positive but instead inserted clues. Should've just said Miller was taking care of himself and that he'd be back when ready. The statement is completely innocuous - if it's eliciting a response, it's likely from people projecting onto the situation vs. there being something to it.
Dude's away for personal reasons, and seeking help for whatever it may be is 100% normal. Half this board was clamoring for Petey to see a sports psychologist, and now JT goes for help and something's weird or off?
There's legitimately zero reason to speculate more after that statement than before. Leave the man be.
I don't think Alvin's comments implied there was something wrong with Miller. I think its just a general recognition that people benefit from working on their mental health. The problem with the statement is that it implies there was something wrong with Miller as a teammate or player that required him to seek help, Allvin tried to be vaguely positive but instead inserted clues. I agree there's not much use in speculating but sudden absences will always make people wonder.

How the hell do you relate "seeking help" with being a bad teammate or player lol? There's no implication of the sort, it's just your bizarre interpretation.
You don't even know what the help is for.
I read that as generic corporate its-so-good-that-we’re-talking-about-The-Mental-Health boilerplate “it’s commendable of him to get help and he’ll come back better for it” stuff. The problem with the statement is that it implies there was something wrong with Miller as a teammate or player that required him to seek help, Allvin tried to be vaguely positive but instead inserted clues. Uhh that statement doesn't inspire confidence. Makes it sound like he's in anger management therapy or something.
I read that statement and the first thing I thought was your apt conclusion below; would've been better to have said nothing at all probably.I read that as generic corporate its-so-good-that-we’re-talking-about-The-Mental-Health boilerplate “it’s commendable of him to get help and he’ll come back better for it” stuff.
HEY @VanillaCoke THIS WHAT YOU WANTED???
Beyond that, most of the plugged-in media folks likely have somewhere between a vague and exact idea as to what is going on, and the less they skirt around that and risk saying too much the better for everyone, IMO.
Hey, no speculation or rumours.i heard he's in turkey for an experimental whole personality transplant
Off the top of my head, Kylington and Drouin took leave for mental health, Koekkoek retired due to mental health issues (anxiety.) I think Patrik Laine too, although I'm not aware if he's spoken directly about his reasons for leave.Anyone have any knowledge of any NHL player taking time off like this that wasn't due to a family issue (death birth etc) or drug or alcohol problems? Or some sort of criminal issue. Reality is that this is kind of a unicorn.
