Just watched his post game said he wants to be a Canuck. I've seen him out and about in westvan and I know his wife and kids absolutely love it here as wellLetting Tanev go was a popular move on this sub? Lol, Benning got cooked for doing it. Wild statement.
It's an interesting thing to me that while Pettersson has conveyed to management that he wants to stay, Miller has not (per Friedman). Easy thing to do. Just go to management and say you'll fall in line. Continue to push in the same direction. Instead, we hear about him and his agent talking with other teams...
He doesn't want to be here.
A lot of those posts were used to spread the word of how important Tanev was to this team, while many saw him as an aging, injury prone, 1 dimensional player.
Sure Benning got heat, after the fact, and increasingly more as it aged poorer and poorer. In the seasons prior though... the idea of a Tanev extension was met with plenty of daggers.
As far as JT goes, he chose to stay, for a $ and term that a team in his home country could have matched or beat. He negotiated the right to choose his destination should he want to leave, or be asked to. Until that time, if it ever comes, he's ours.

YeahYeah, I've noticed a few instances where he suddenly completely stops using an arm and then hightails it to the bench at first opportunity.
Nah.The Canuck management would be crazy to trade Miller. He is their best player and leader. They need to make him happy here, not kick him to the curb. I can't believe the bs I am hearing about moving him. It is a long season, lots of time for the team to find ways to solve its problems and Miller is not the problem.
The other teams know. Its not rocket science.Miller obviously has an injury. He almost certainly sustained it in the Montreal game. When asked about it he didn’t even really just deny the injury, he kind of just acknowledged to Patterson that he wouldn’t discuss it which is something Patterson prepacked in his question.
And yes, Tocchet said he wasn’t injured. Which is standard hockey business and isn’t evidence of some mismanagement. Teams don’t want other teams a to know their players are playing through injuries. It isn’t rocket science.
Ya, I think you are right. But you still don’t make it easy. Why disclose information that allows the other team to target an injured player? That would be stupid, and again, management not doing so isn’t some sign of incompetence. The other teams know. Its not rocket science.
Nah.
They cant put a player ahead of the teams best interest.
He looks like a leader when things are easy and he looks like a black hole when things are hard.
We just disagree on how bad he is when he is bad.Even when he's a black hole he's still one of their best players. I know his defensive play has been inconsistent, but 1) it's elite when he cares and 2) even when he doesn't care and doesn't play defense he's STILL one of their better players. Can't say that about any other forward on team. And oh yeah, when he's at his best he's a top 5 forward in the league. Below McDavid, MacKinnon, Draisaitl and Kucherov, but he's better than Eichel, better than Barkov, better than Matthews by a mile.
Hughes doesn't seem to have any problem playing fantastic with Miller on the team. Whoever isn't playing great, that's their problem, not Miller's.
That said, age and asset management are factors - so if you can get a great deal for him, given the fact that the rest of the team isn't playing like a contender, like with any player, trade has to be considered.
saying this after he shut down mcdavid last night is wildNah.

yeah because you're using ratios. if you put out manny malhotra against connor mcdavid, he would also shut him down and post a sub 50% xGF. if your sole focus is on shutting down the best player in the league, you probably aren't going to be cheating that often for offense and putting up your own xG.I love how these narratives are formed so easily.
McDavid was kept off the scoresheet but he still generated 84% xGF in his 5 on 5 minutes. That's not Miller shutting McDavid down. That's McDavid getting unlucky.

when you look at the xG/60, it's near the lower end of the second quartile of all of his games between 2022-2025. that's a pretty damn good effort.

Ok, but the comment I replied to said that Miller looked like a black hole when things are hard. And things have been hard lately, and he stepped up against one of the best teams in the league (and I've shown that it's one of McDavid's low event nights over the past ~200 games). I can't imagine saying the same thing after watching JTM play lights out in the playoffs.Sure, now adjust for McDavid playing 3 games in 4 nights. Also, if you limit McDavid but generate next to zero yourself, you're still losing that matchup. Last time I checked Miller isn't paid to be a Malhotra.
Didn't want to get in the weeds here but just wanted to point out that 1 game narratives are just lazy.
no one is going to be able to replace what miller brings to this team.Who do you guys suggest takes his spot at 1a C. We will now be relying solely on Pettersson to shut down the oppositions top line. Who's next in line for 2 C? You guys sound like you want laf, he's a winger. Blueger or Sasson for 2C?
