Ice time is literally the only cudgel current NHL coaches have. It's the only tool they have for accountability.

If Miller quits when he's held accountable, then talent-level be damned, he's a negative impact on a team.

Also, Miller, at his best, is a fantastic player. But he's not even close to comparable to Draisaitl.
They started the game this way?

Draisaitl is just who he is for our PP not a direct player comp

This guy has single handedly f***ed this team. Just bench him till we trade him. f*** him.
Do you have insight on his mental and physical health issues this year?

Funny seeing everyone here dumping on Miller.. tied with EP in points with less games played. Almost 4 million dollars more a year for EP. Miller and his family love being here in Vancouver, and he wants to win here. As a fan I want that over whatever petterson brings to the table but that's just me

A trade is going to be tricky. Miller should get a great return even under the circumstances but you need roster players in return to compete for the post season

To sell right now doesnt seem realistic (at least Ive never seen any team on the cusp of the playoffs become sellers 45 games in)

Miller actually seemed to open up a bit here. Kind of sad how people go from chanting his names and calling him the heartbeat of this team to trashing the guy based on half a season. He's clearly going through it and I’m still hoping he can turn it around.

Starting to look like he might've needed more time away.

Maybe should've waited until the 4 Nations break to return.

I honestly don't think he deserves that much criticism. Being his age and state, he wants to win, but seeing teammates like Pettersson taking it easy and getting that much from his contract, there bound to be some salt.

Well when one takes a leave of absence (likely) due to mental health issues it might not be possible to simply turn on the switch.
We dont know why he was sent home.

Ah now your post in the EP thread makes sense.

Honestly, one of the most baffling situations I have ever seen.

Many are saying he is actually injured... so why is he playing? He looks mostly awful. Put him on LTIR and rest him up. Take that cap space and go get a d-man or two which has been by far the biggest issue.

Well... I dont trust our medical staff at all. So there is that.

Could you imagine the Oilers moving Draisaitl away from PP1 because of a couple months of sub par play for Leon?

The vibes look a lot like 9 and 40 just cant play together and co exist right now and everyone around them is getting dragged into the sewer

Everytime drama has happened with Miller this year it's been on the heels of getting benched or demoted or singled out. Is he overreacting and being a baby.... yes he is. Piss poor leadership yes

Thing is though when you start a game and leave the top guy on the bench what kind of disrespect is that for what someone has accomplished and is still capable of? It's a dangerous game that Tocchet had backfire a few times this year.

When i saw it my immediate reaction was WTF is Tocchet doing here. 4 minutes no shots and an obviously pissed off Miller to start. Well done?
Fans would dump on the coach if Draisaitl is moved off the powerplay. We wanted bouchard off PP1 and still do because of some of his bonehead giveaways on the pp. But only temporarily.

Miller should be on PP1 no matter what. Tocchet can't be moving him up and down like this. It affects the player mentally.

The trade would be with another cup contending team that has assets.

Dallas Stars would be a good fit. Seguin is injured.

The ask from the canucks would be Stankoven, 1 more roster player (young D) and a pick (3rd round mininum). So 3 from Dallas for Miller.

Nobody on the roster has had a longer leash than Miller.

But at some point when you are playing awful hockey there needs to be consequences. Even for the players that make the big bucks.

So if someone were to have avoided reading or listening to most of the junk.. but ask what did miller do - in point form can anyone answer that question?

Specific to our power play, our zone entry has been terrible. We have players that can do it, but we go to the drop pass and then still try to stick handle in and teams just stand us up at the blue line and we can’t get it in.sure there are other problems, but we can’t try and fix those ones until we get in the zone.

Thaaat is a fair point :D
At least in Myers case it's not from a lack of effort. There's a lot of problems with Myers game, but being lazy isn't one of them. He's just not very bright and tries to do too much. Miller is smart, but plays as if he's both lazy/uninterested and dumb.

It's ok to be consistently shitty, just don't be lazy. lol
