Miller + Demko for Marner + what would be fair then?

Considering we are capped out, bringing in an 11 million winger makes no sense. Again we aren't trading Demko, and I wouldn't even want to put a price on how much he'd cost because he is honestly worth more to us than any other team, because we developed him and he fits with the core. You don't trade players like that.

Miller if he got traded would need some combination of an NHL ready player (not named Dermott or Kerfoot), a 1st rounder, a top prospect (not necessarily a teams very top prospect) and a 2nd/3rd rounder depending on overall value offered (depending on prospect).

That's just my opinion, when it comes to Miller, I don't think there is a chance in hell we trade Demko.

Would the Leafs want Demko?
Miller + Demko for ?
Matthews
And even then, I dunno.
I think a team is better off with Demko and Miller.
Demko is a top 5 goalie in the league at a sweet deal. Miller, while less points still produces very well.
I also think Matthews is just waiting to run down to the states.
Having said all that, Matthews is a top player in the league, even if plays like a kitten

Nylander for Miller and Schenn
I think this works for both sides . The Canucks get a very good player locked up for less than seven million who might be able to bring out the best in Petterson , Leafs get a versatile player that they can plug in anywhere in the top nine and add a solid dman with a mean streak who doesn't shy away from the rough stuff . I'm guessing both fan bases will hate it .

Makes sense. Leafs are really weak on the left side. They've never been able to replace Hyman. Miller would be an upgrade.

Before everybody screams and goes a bit crazy in this thread:laugh:, Let's all sit back and take a breath and go over and have some Rational Respectful Conversations about JT Miller.

Lets start with what JT Miller Brings.

1 - He is a PPG Forward in the past few years, and is also having a Career Year
2 - He is signed to an extremely friendly 5.25m Deal, and Can (Most likely will) Retain as well half his Salary to Maximize Return.
3 - He can play Literally all 3 Positions, Across the entire line up.
4 - He is big, Strong, Gritty, and Performed in the most recent playoff run the Canucks Had.

Value -

Important things to mention - he has ZERO trade Restrictions Which means he will have multiple teams offering, which in "theory" Will cause a bidding war, which will increase his overall Value.
Secondly, He is NOT a UFA and is signed for an additional year next year.

What we have basically argued/Debated in multiple threads for the last few months, His value Should/Will be roughly around this.

Over-Value - Multiple 1st Round picks + Top Prospect + Good Young Player
Proper Value = 2 Equivalent 1st round picks (OR Players) + a Top Prospect
Under Value = 1 1st Round pick + Top Prospect

Consensus - A "Fair" Package for JT Miller to the leafs is a bit tough, Due to the lack of a "Top end RHD Prospect (Like a Schneider for example)" Which the Canucks Badly need.
Which Means the Leafs would probably go the "quantity" Route over the Pure Top End Quality.
Something like this would be "fair"
1st Round pick (Late) + Amirov ( no longer an option, I hope he makes a whole recovery..Awful news) + Niemelä for JT Miller + 50% Retained on his Contract.
That being Said, With all the Teams Bidding on JT Miller, I belive The Canucks would still pass on this offer.

This is my Summary of the last few threads, History, and Value.
Cheers

This won't work for Vancouver unless they believe that Nylander can actually play Centre at a high level. Canucks need either a RD or Centre out of this trade and history shows that Nylander is not capable of being a top centre.

Keeping miller makes vancouver one of the best teams for EVER in the nhl sire. Letting miller go, makes them worse. He is the best, does everything gangsta, scores, hits faceoffs, chips, talks, plays tough, fights, wants it, and gets it. Hard. Best player in the league. Vanucks are keeping him and makes us others poorer and more weak. Miller is the JUICE.

Sir this is a Wendy's

Well that sucks but value wise I still think it's a great proposal . What do you think it would take for the Leaf's to get Schenn ?

Jokes aside, Jr asking price is a 1st rounder, blue chip prospect and a roster player and for the gm to submit their best offer.

Schenn provides good value to the Canucks and fulfills an important role. One of the only guys on the team with truculence (other than JT Miller). While he may not be "worth" a second round pick in the traditional sense, I think that is what it would take to motivate Vancouver to move him right now.

Toronto doesn't have the assets to pull this off unless they part with one of their core players.

Odds are, if Miller is moved to Toronto, you're looking at a package of a 1st Round Pick, one of Amirov/Robertson and Niemela. Is it a lot, yes but is Miller worth it, also yes. As a leaf fan, I would make trade.
